The only thing that bothers me with how Nintendo is approaching only giving us a standard composite cable is how fucking hard it was to even get ahold of a component cable for the GAMECUBE let alone their new system.

The cables better be in stores instead of having to go pay an atrocious amount of money from Nintendo's online store just to be able to have component cables for the system.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I ordered mine on December 3rd (only got my Wii Sunday before last) and right now my status on the order is "Preparing Order" (and my card was charged) so I have no idea what's going on with Nintendo's store myself.

I'd like the cables, and I'm saving Zelda/Trauma Center for when I get them, but I suppose I can wait.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

OMG I got my e-mail saying my component cable was shipped.

Gamecube becomes completely obsolete in T Minus 3 days.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Maybe we should blame TV makers for making weak TVs. Stupid cocksucker TV manufacturers. SUE THEM! SUE THEM ALL! WITH DAMAGES!

lol no

People shouldn't be getting that much into the games, and under the duress of having really sweaty palms they need to just take a fucking break and dry off their hands.

I should take the Power Glove (with cord removed) and go punch people in the face with it, then blame Nintendo.

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING"
"Now I'M playing with power, bitch!"
"OH GOD"

Lucky you, mine won't be here until tomorrow. I'm just glad I'm getting them all the same, considering the difference that it'll make.

Yeah, you can buy points through the Wii Shop Channel so you don't have to bother with buying the cards.

All I want is Tetris Attack, and maybe Nintendo surprising everyone saying "Hey, now you can play VC games online with other people!" which would be fucking awesome.

I would actually get back into Killer Instinct Gold if they enabled VC online play. They really need to do something other than promise new titles in the future to get online moving.

You'd be surprised. I got my component cables in the mail yesterday. Soon as I plugged them in, turned on 480p, and started up Wii Sports Tennis it was like Tennis had become a whole new game with much more elicit detail.

Of course, continually raping the 2000 and 1900 skill level players didn't help things, heh.

But yeah, anyone that has component capability on their TV (not just progressive) should put down immediately for these cords.

As the link was obviously French, and I'm curious otherwise... does this mean that there could possibly a Freeloader for the NTSC Wii consoles that allow us to play Wii AND Gamecube games region free, or just one or the other?

Mine seemed like it was on the verge of doing what yours is doing right now, but I did a full system format at the sacrifice of a few saves, then added a few people in Address Book until their names blacked out and everything seemed fine.

I would assume you've already tried the system format though. I'm not really too sure what you could do at this point, but that is pretty ridiculous. Just keep them on until they relent and actually do what the American counterpart does. If anything, you paid $400 to be able to bitch them out to your heart's content, so go for it.

That completely sucks. From what I've read thus far, I've found out a few things about the Australian Nintendo branch.

- Your PR guy is a blithering idiot.
- You have a 12 month warranty on your system, quite nice.
- None of the information on their site explicitly states that they will not transfer your points to the new console, which you should most definitely point out.
- I see this little gem '"Otherwise, we provide the Wii Network Service and any Content, Points or Products, without express or implied warranty, undertaking, inducement or representation of any kind. This means that Nintendo does not guarantee that the Wii Network Service will always work properly or that it will be free from viruses, hacks or other harmful intrusions." in the network service warranty. Again, no explicit wording that upon warranty invoking, no points will be transfered to the new system.

Call them up, and stay on their asses until they help you.

I'm surprised anyone buys from them in that case, though I can imagine finding a console online would be tricky unless you have a friend in the specific area you want to buy the console in. If they're cheaper, then all the more reason. Sucks for the people who are having problems now. I guess no company is completely immune to launch problems anymore.

The Wavebird controllers do work on the Wii system, quite nicely I might add. You have to use the GC memory cards for GC games, it won't read the GC saves from the SD cards at all.

Does that Freeloader update mean they're release a generic Freeloader that'll work on NTSC/PAL, or only PAL?

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

Could be compatibility issues, could be a patch to fix certain problems, could be a number of things. Personally I'd wait until something a little more concrete is known about it before acting on it. Have you tried e-mailing Play-Asia about that specific statement yet?

The only order I've ever placed with them is for Gyakuten Saiban 2, and I got everything without problems. Do they have a shitty reputation I need to be aware of or something?

I'm sure they'll say something about it in due time, if they're the only place throwing out that kind of statement with so many people looking for a Freeloader they'll have to address it sooner or later.

Nice that they send you a message and light up the system to tell you about the Forecast Channel being made available.

Getting my update right now, though hopefully the forecast doesn't call for a bricked console and a flood of tears when the update completes.

EDIT: Now this is some cool shit, though I'm not sure I'd like to say it would replace the Weather Channel or weather.com, but I guess if you have no other available alternative being able to check the weather on the fly with the Wii is pretty nice. Update didn't brick my console either, so it's clear skies (even though there is fog in Corpus Christi right now) lol.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

So what do you all use in terms of batteries for the Wiimotes? It seems like I'm chewing through the damn things at a rate of 2 every three days, so obviously it's beginning to get annoying.

I hear you can use rechargeable batteries but the Wii manual discourages you from doing so. Anyone have a good battery setup that they could recommend?

That sounds reasonable, though is there any particular brand battery/charger that could be recommended for something like this? I'd rather go with what works for someone already using a particular setup rather than take shots in the dark with new combinations.
