GTAV - 20pts
Trevor makes this game excellent. I knew when I saw him in trailers I'm on fucking #teamtrevor. That craziness of his psycho personality appeals very much in this sandbox style game. The other two characters, not so much. The ending was a surprise and disappointing. If the heists were more thought out, this would had been the best GTA ever after Vice City. I like San Andreas too but I hate the characters. The Last of Us - 20pts The level of immersion was broken when the AI would stumble around loudly and the enemies wouldn't hear them but yet they can hear you instead. Outside of that though, excellent landscape, great set up, great dialogue, and great characters. I don't really care much for the plot, but it was engaging at least. I plan on getting the trophies for this game because I love it enough to replay it and I don't replay games to the end that often. Beyond Two Souls - 20pts I enjoyed this game for what it was. Good character development, great backdrops. The plot was interesting and the set up of the story telling in someways a hindrance but also great in lending into the suspense regarding the story. Saints Row IV - 20pts After the shallowness of III, this game was refreshing in its fun factor. I enjoyed it immensely to try to get everything. However, the plot and the characters are just as shallow as in III. They've lost their heart and soul from the first two games. You can tell that they tried to put in homage to the character development in audio tapes of different characters for you to find. The whole VR bit was neat though, especially the 50s setting. Tomb Raider - 10pts Its not a game I was expecting. Remember all that ruckus when this game came out about the deconstruction of Lara Croft into a weak female plot device to make gamers feel for her? I felt that but in an opposite direction, there was a lot of brutal death scenes and I can sense that it was put in just a tad too much. Then I remember how in the old games, you just die by walking onto spikes easily lol. But at the time, there was no such facial animations that show her "death struggle" that I felt was unnecessary. I get what they're trying to do, making her a real character of sorts but for fucks sakes, this is a series that lived on a lot of telltale deaths. Playing up her to you as a player, you should feel that she shouldn't go through that? What. Should I feel awful for every time that Mario fell through a pit? What? Yeah, that's my biggest gripe and maybe I'm just seeing it because I expected Lara to be more tough than that, than being a "victim". She've been in hell before in another game where she was a teen assisting her father. I don't remember much else on this game... ACNL - 10pts Played this for a while. It was my obsession to say the least. But really, its just all meta gaming that I enjoyed. Jam it back in, in the dark. |
