If I think I know you well enough, I cannot recommend puzzle games enough.
Professor Layton series are pretty good, and you may find Picross enjoyable along with the 3D iteration. But yet somehow you strike me as a Civilization fan too, I could also recommend Dawn of Discovery (its on the light, narrow, easy side but its fun). And remembering that you liked Might and Magic, you may find Dark Spire and Orcs & Elves enjoyable too. How I wish they'd continue the Ultima series or somehow remake them... they'd be awesome on the DS. And then there's the staple Mario & Luigi trio that were fun. But all this doesn't matter as long as you have this in your DS I'm sure.  Jam it back in, in the dark.
