All right.

That's probably a good thing, I don't like the other Xanadu much. Too christian.

I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

I finally got around to listening to that Slavland. Holy jumbled production, Batman! I think it'd be good if it didn't sound so... crudely tincan. I think that's a good example of a bad sound quality/production ruining the music.

You do realize that Amon Amarth is melodic death metal, not viking, right?

I really hope that this is being filmed. This sounds like a once in a life time opportunaty, which I'll unfortunately miss. If not offical footage, maybe some bootlegs.
Argh... why Romania? Why not Wacken next year? Hehehe.

Good pick on the Immortal.

Out of politeness I will refrain from commenting on the rest.

Where are you, Vampiro? Montréal or Québec City?

I'm a bit lukewarm about the new Moonsorrow (and I'm a bit of a fangirl). Long songs are good, but 30 minute songs...? It has some drawn-out moments, I'm afraid. Maybe it'll grow on me.

I sincerely hope they'll play excerpts of the new album rather than a full song, because a full song takes up way too much material from their previous albums.

Edit: Eek! Just noticed that the flag below my profile was the US one. Gotta change that immediately...

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

What the fuck. We chanted Majesty over and over again and they didn't even play it. And the place was packed, too.
Wankers.

Edit: I sincerely doubt moshing was that brutal at a Blind Guardian concert, though... I can't stand moshing myself, but the moshing at power metal shows never come close to, say, thrash or death metal shows. I shudder to imagine punk and (true) hardcore concerts...

My neck still hurts two days after the Moonsorrow concert. Think I exaggerated during Kylän Päässä? Naah.... And Metal Church is this Sunday, w00t!

So last Boxing Day, at a local metal CD store, if you bought something on that day you were automatically entered for a contest. There were apparently ten prizes of 10 CD batches, and five prizes of 5 CD batches.

In a matter of pure luck, not only did I win 10 CDs, but my boyfriend also won 10 CDs! We didn't get to pick the CDs, of course, so the quality is kind of meh, but hey, they're free... who knows, I might give some away too. I seem to have gotten assorted black metal CDs, while my boyfriend got an assortment of brutal death/grindcore CDs, poor him.
Anyone familiar with the following bands? I got CDs by those:

Azure, Saxorior, Arise From Thorns, Dialectic Soul, Obscure Devotion, Ewiges Reich, Throndt, Menhir, Satarial, Cultus

And he got CDs by:

Strangulation, Death du Jour, Mind Eclipse, Myopia, Da Grind, Pustulated, Hacksaw to the Throat, Dismo, Hyperion, Subtera

So far, CDDB doesn't recognize the first two CDs I got. Kvlt...

The above is absolutely, positively correct.

I'm willing to bet we can blame the Wikipedia "DeathRocker" for around 90% of the bullshit on the metal-related pages, too... *shudders*

So Metal Church cancelled, possibly postponed the Toronto and Montreal dates due to illness.

How dare they ruin my week-end by falling sick.

Here's a 1349 album I saw on http://download-full-metal-albums.blogspot.com/ though I don't know if the link's any good as I haven't downloaded it:
http://www.filefactory.com/file/fec145/

Hope this helps.

Haha, Dave Mustaine has been a joke for a while now. I can barely listen to old Megadeth without cringing because he's become an even bigger tool than Lars.

Recent haul from the used CD stores around here:

- Iron Clad - Lost in a Dream: traditional heavy metal from Belgium, with some medieval influences. Günther from Ancient Rites on vocals.
- Mötley Crüe - Too Fast For Love: solid debut, though not quite as good as Shout at the Devil. But early Crüe was among the top for cheesy 80's rocking metal.
- Bruce Dickinson - Accident of Birth: about time, I know.
- Orplid - s/t: cool neofolk, reminds me of The Moon Lay Hidden Beneath a Cloud and Der Blutharsch, with hints of Graveland (minus the metal) at times for some reason.
- Sol Invictus - more badass neofolk. The Devil's Steed: never, ever expected to find any such CD in any local store. Now if I could only find Lex Talionis and In the Rain...

Hey, three metal out of five ain't bad.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I only heard Thunder Perfect Mind and All the Pretty Little Horses. I liked the former a lot, but the latter had a few somewhat annoying moments. Like parts where it's just weird noise, or speeches, or things like that.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I feel like downloading/buying/checking out some power metal bands and albums. Any suggestions?

I'm not really keen on huge/bombastic/epic orchestral/keyboard sections though.
Try Sabaton - Primo Victoria or Attero Dominatus for power metal with balls, or Jag Panzer - Ample Destruction (Decade of the Nail-Spiked Bat also works), The Age of Mastery, Thane to the Throne or Mechanized Warfare.

Also if you already know/like Jag Panzer and Control Denied, I recommend Pharaoh - The Longest Night. Good stuff.

I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?
