Heh, me and a buddy wanted to do a road trip to Winnipeg back when we lived in Brandon (about 2 hours away), for no reason really other than to do it. We had a couple of days off and were bored out of our mind. We were hanging out at our local gathering spot where a bunch of us all played Magic (back when we did that, heh, so long ago now), and basically said "the next person [with a car] that walks through that door we are going to convince to take us on a road trip."
So lo and behold another of our friends comes in, just stopping by basically to say hi before going to classes. We put forth the order to him, and he tries to cop out of it saying that he has a paper or some such to write for class tomorrow. First we told him that he'd be able to write it that night after we got back, but he wouldn't go for that, saying that it was a 10 page paper that he hasn't done any research for.
After a lot of ordering, coniving, and begging, we tried something else. I asked what the paper was on, and he said "the history of the internet" and I laughed. I told him that we would write his paper on the way in for him if he would give us the ride. All he would have to do is write down some appropriate sources. He was sceptical at first, but in the end we convinced him.
So, sitting in the back of his Trans Am (that's not comfortable at all when you're 6'3), me and my bud wrote his paper. We actually got the whole thing done in just over an hour, and by the time we got there, we were raring to go. We ended up just travelling the malls and such for a while, took in the zoo, went to the IMAX, and then hit a local pup before heading back. Good times. He said that if he passed his paper, he would give us another road trip.
Best part was, he got an A. Let's just say the return trip was way too full of much drunken debauchery...oh to be young again with no responsibilities.
EDIT: Another desperate measures time came when Diablo II was first released. After getting off of work in the morning on Friday (I worked nights at the time), another few friends showed up at my place with their computers, and we proceded to set up for a weekend of LANing. We played straight through until Sunday morning (something like 60 hours awake). That was a lot of Coke imbibed.
Jam it back in, in the dark.
