Uh...I think I was at 96 Hours. I'll let you know when I go back to the game.
I swear it's the battle system. Like the original VP it never EVER gets boring. That's such a great feature if you can still say that after 100 hours. I can tell you my "Just before fighting final boss" savegame ended at 69 hours. So yeah SG can take a lot of time. There's nowhere I can't reach. ![]() Soldier: Prepare yourself, rebel scum!! Well if your using Rufus you don't really have to worry about damage, since Killing thorns is pretty shit damage wise, but with triple edge, and maybe double edge as well it will hit a LOT. like a dragon at the side? you'll easily hit 50 times from killing thorns alone. There's a bow that has double hit as well. Equip that and your set.
Just make sure you use a move that launches the enemy in the air before killing thorns hits and it will be raining crystals. I always use Alicia's Imperious Act to launch them just as rufus fires it, and usually end up with 80 crystals richer. But since mobs can guard from the front it's safer to go in the back or sides, but you should know this by now. And err...I never changed camera ever. Just moving it a bit left or right. How do you even do that? This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. ![]() Soldier: Prepare yourself, rebel scum!! Arngrim : (These slipshod soldiers think they can call me "rebel scum"?) |
Oh and don't you only get purples when the enemy is on the ground? I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? ![]() Soldier: Prepare yourself, rebel scum!! Arngrim : (These slipshod soldiers think they can call me "rebel scum"?) |
Money won't be problem. Mobs at this point drop shitloads. The materials weren't that hard as I recall. I don't think any of them were SG materials. I honestly don't remember the specific items you needed for that armor.
There was one specific item I recall that was annoying to get. I think it was Ice Pearl or something like that? It only drops from a mob that when you defeat it it doesn't respawn until you rejoin the dungeon. It's in Yggdrasil and it's the enemy type with 4 arms, and to get that item you have to slash off his upper left sword (not arm) it's annoying as hell to get. Just keep trying and if you screw up, escape and try again, so you don't have to leave and rejoin to get him to spawn again. Heh...so I released all my Einherjar. Got SHITLOADS of stat boosts, and gave pretty much everything to my good friend Arngrim. His regular hits do 50k now heh. Those arent't even his strongest move "Dead End" I don't like these "ultimate" moves, because while they do a lot more damage, they also have horrendous charge times. Dead End takes like what 4 seconds to charge? fuck that. If I fight some dragon and give him the skills that do more damage to scaled enemies and dragons he'll probably do like 100k and his Final Blast probably does like 600k. Oh yeah i'm happy. His Final Blast took half of Iseria's health away. I was speaking idiomatically. ![]() Soldier: Prepare yourself, rebel scum!! Arngrim : (These slipshod soldiers think they can call me "rebel scum"?) |
Best craftable armor yes. There's a number of armor pieces you can get that are better then the crell ones, there're spread all over. If you haven't already, check out the equipment of the last 4 characters you got. You know the ones I mean. They came with very good equipment.
Also, learn and equip the skill toughness, which doubles your current HP in battle. Then equip the sealstone that has 200% health regen, and equip a trickster imprint. With that Alicia's heal will heal all other characters. the amount it heals is decreased a lot, but with toughness and 200% health regen it's more then enough for the final boss. Throw in First Aid and maybe even Survival and you'll be pretty much unbeatable. If your wondering why everyone is doing very crap damage to the final form, it's normal. Only "she" can do normal damage. It helps to use sap guard on him, and maybe even might reinfoce. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? ![]() Soldier: Prepare yourself, rebel scum!! That's true but they still give extra hits to the gauge so i found it better to use all their soul crushes and use alicia last.

Sigh. Not that again. Every single mage with glasses is based on one character now? When VP1 came out Harry Potter wasn't even that popular yet, I mean it came out like 2 years after the first book. The only similiar thing I see is that they both have glasses. (!)

You should be able to inflict frailty automatically if you do enough damage to them. Not quite sure how much though. Trolls early in the game are one of the most annoying mobs in the game.
Just try to boost your attack power a bit, and equip weapons that have soul crushes. If you manage to get some soul crushes going he should be dead, or heavily damaged, and he'll get frailty. His limbs can regenerate but he won't heal his main health anymore. worst case scenario you can equip skills that do extra damage to them. Not quite sure what they classify as though...beast? There's nowhere I can't reach. ![]() Soldier: Prepare yourself, rebel scum!! Arngrim : (These slipshod soldiers think they can call me "rebel scum"?) |
Oh yeah, besides what I just said, the most effective method I found in killing them is one simple sealstone. The no guard one. With that you'll be doing full damage to them, since they won't be able to block anything, and boy do they block a lot. I think you find that sealstone in that very dungeon too.
Throw in a 120% attack sealstone, and equip fist of iron, and maybe giant killer and you'll kill them easily. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. ![]() Soldier: Prepare yourself, rebel scum!! Arngrim : (These slipshod soldiers think they can call me "rebel scum"?) |
Hmm I found out what always caused frailty for me. It's Arngrim. I always used Wild Break with him and appearently that is what causes frailty. I never even knew certain attacks causes status effects hehe.
I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? ![]() Soldier: Prepare yourself, rebel scum!! Arngrim : (These slipshod soldiers think they can call me "rebel scum"?) |
Well I knew about prismatic missile, but mages suck in this game, and prismatic missible is completely random. I seriously miss the VP style mages where they were pure pwnage. Greater Magicks in that game were a must.
I was speaking idiomatically. ![]() Soldier: Prepare yourself, rebel scum!! Arngrim : (These slipshod soldiers think they can call me "rebel scum"?) |

The skeletons in the final dungeon drop those. Forgot which part drops it, so just use whatever you use to break stuff. You can always use Rufus with dismantle and blue gale bow.
The flashing boss has the sealstone that negates encouters (awesome sealstone! be sure to get it) if you played VP1 it's kinda like dimension slip, but here you can still touch the enemies and stand on top of them and fight them if you slash your sword, but it won't trigger a battle simply by touching. To fight that monster, you have to find that sealstone in ravine cavern that negates sealstone effect. I think that's what it was called. It's hidden somewhere you'll have to find it, and then place it on a dais that's near that monster. How ya doing, buddy? ![]() Soldier: Prepare yourself, rebel scum!! Arngrim : (These slipshod soldiers think they can call me "rebel scum"?) |
He's easily killable without doing SG. Takes the challenge out of it if you do SG before. I was at level 65 when I beat him.
Spoiler:
Equip first aid if he does too much damage. there's a trinket that has the same effect, and they stack. Combine that with the 200% healing sealstone and you'll pretty much always get the damage taken back in health. first aid gives half the damage back in health, but since you have a sealstone that doubles healing you get the full thing back, with the trinket the chance is doubled so your set. Use the 120% all resist sealstone as well, and if he does so much damage use survival and you WILL be unstoppable. Some use a tactic where they don't use the other 3 characters and only let her do the damage, since the others won't be doing much damage anyway, and use them mainly as healers, but I didn't see that many problems with him to bother with this. Double Post:
If you want to release them then yes, that's the sword you want. that will get you 99 +str items. It lowers your RDM and AVD but who cares right? 2200 attack power. How ya doing, buddy? ![]() Soldier: Prepare yourself, rebel scum!! Arngrim : (These slipshod soldiers think they can call me "rebel scum"?)

Here's what I did. I equiped the best weapons I had at the time. and gave everyone 3 of those +5% attack power and a power bandle. Now I'm not sure if what I did next actually helped, but it seemed like it. I gave everyone the skills Dragon Killer and Unscale Might. Dragon Killer obviously works since it's a dragon, but i'm pretty sure unscale might works as well, since it says does more damage on enemies with scales, and i'm pretty sure dragons classify. Now when I fought them this time, I did so much damage that I nearly killed him in 1 attack run. Had to do twice in the end, but ended battle with full bonus bar, and thus a 100% chance of getting that sword. If your lucky you get two at the end, but worst case scenario you do it 4 or 5 times, no biggie. Just made sure to equip the sealstones every time you go in. half RDM matters, as does no-guard and maybe the other half RDM one. Oh, and equip EVERY attack sealstone you have. 120% one, 120% all stats, 150% attack half RDM and 150% attack no heal. You will succeed. Southjag: Make sure to equip the right skills and weapons, and importantly accesoiries. Throughout most of the game I wore 4x beetle shell, which raises your RDM by like err... a lot. I used Fist or Iron (120% attack) fortify physique (RDM 150%) the entire game, along with the trusted 120% ATK and RDM sealstones. Eventually I switched the bettle shells for stuff like Narwals Tooth which each gives 5% attack, and if fully linked you'll be doing like twice as much damage if not more. I honest didn't have much trouble with the entire game, save for 2 boss battles. I don't think it's the leveling that matters, it's keeping your shit up to date. Make sure you expiriment a bit and take a look at the armor shops. You can create some good stuff there pretty early on. If your using Arngrim and Dylan try to get them some Elemental Edge and later the Grand String swords. They are relatively easy to get. Same with armors there's some really overpowered stuff you can make in chapter 3. I strongly suggest you put a lot of time in getting the materials for them. Jam it back in, in the dark. ![]() Soldier: Prepare yourself, rebel scum!! Arngrim : (These slipshod soldiers think they can call me "rebel scum"?)

Tyrfing is on the 5th floor, it's a HUGE dragon you can't miss him. when you enter the place go all the way east. he's in the eastmost room.
Arectaris Returned is easy to get too, can't really explain how I did it, but it involves changing places with 3 different mobs to get him to a place where you don't fall down. And it's the Sylvan Bow. I think you had to place that floating enemy's soul near him, above the flatform he's under. then go all the way to the bottom left and exchange places with the first enemy, then with Arectaris, and jump up. use that soul you placed there to get back up to the bottom left, you should be able to reach him then. It might have been a bit different, I can't remember exactly. My opinion of that bow differs. It doesn't have a Soul Crush, and the attack power is based on your level. 20 x level, so at level 99 Rufus, or any archer will do 1980 damage per hit, which is good, but it's always 1980, nothing will increase it, which is why I kept the Soothsayer Bow, which I in the end did like roughly a 1000 damage with, but you get a soul crush with it which balances out the lower damage. One thing is for sure though, Sylvan Bow + Rufus + Triple Edge/Double Edge + Killing Thorn is scary as hell. Not every hit will do 1980, but a good 10 maybe 20 hits does. Wind Gloves you make in Crell Monferague, Ether Crowns drop from Walther and Gyne. Annoying as hell to get. They are on 5th floor in the room where if you open a chest 2 guys ambush you. There's nowhere I can't reach. ![]() Soldier: Prepare yourself, rebel scum!! Arngrim : (These slipshod soldiers think they can call me "rebel scum"?) |
First Aid alone gets you to full health. Normally it's 50% of the damage received but with 200% healing it's the full damage. It's pretty hard to die with that.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. ![]() Soldier: Prepare yourself, rebel scum!! Arngrim : (These slipshod soldiers think they can call me "rebel scum"?) |
Uh right well the guy that drops the sword. He is on the 4th floor, and he's a crawling type enemy. He's in the room where there's 4 enemies that all home in towards you. (I think 1 crawling, 3 floating.) The room to your right has the hamster in it, IF you released it (some weird music in background) It's the bottom floor. Just look for a crawling enemy, and escape till you get him. Same tactic aplies to him. Dragon Slayer/Unscaled Might, all attack sealstones, and RDM sealstones. Easily killable in 1 run. Doubt Dismantle works on him. If it does though equip Rufus with Blue Gale bow. 100% crit on that thing. Heimdall and Ull are annoying as hell. Sometimes they spawn all the time, sometimes they don't spawn for ages. I've seen them spawn on a number of different walking type enemies. I doubt it has to be a specific one. From what I heard any walking type on that floor has a chance. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? ![]() Soldier: Prepare yourself, rebel scum!! Arngrim's Wild Break causes frailty. Not sure if it worked on him, but if not try the sealstone that adds silence on your attacks.
Light Warriors don't have such uber weapons. You can get the Levantine which is good if you combine it with err...that skill that adds MAG to ATK, since it has 1200 MAG and ATK, so that equals 2400 but I'm not yet convinced it quite works like that with sealstones and bonus to ATK. The second best was Dainslef wasn't it? I don't recall any monsters dropping those though. I only got 1 from a chest. Your nightmare will begin with Extreme Guards and Ether Crowns. If your only after +str items don't bother. I didn't. I was speaking idiomatically. ![]() Soldier: Prepare yourself, rebel scum!! Arngrim : (These slipshod soldiers think they can call me "rebel scum"?) |
Eventually you'll get accesories called Bracelet of Zoe. Whenever you are about to level up equip two of them, and you'll gain a extra 600 DME (HP) per level. If There's more then one person about to level use the Experience orb and do them one at a time. Oh, To make them easily, convert Golden Eggs into them. You'll eventually get a item that produces a number of them per chapter.
During your travels you'll find mage weapons called Element Scepter and Ether Scepter. While these weapons do break, they are special weapons that will cast greater magicks. If your mage has one equiped and you perform a PWS you'll see a big difference. Another good use for these items, is converting them into tomes of alchemy. These items instantly kill most enemies in the game, and they drop a lot of experience crystals when they die. Start a normal of hard game. You won't be able to get the best ending at easy. You will regret it later. At all times equip the accesory, Treasure Find, on Lenneth. As long as you equip this item, you'll always know if there is a treasure still hidden in the dungeon. If your really interested in getting the A ending the first time you play the game, you probably should read a FAQ. There's really no way in hell anyone can figure out how to get that on their own. There's a limited number of chapters and periods in the game. If you don't do something stupid, and just visit every place once, and finish it up, you should have enough time to do another dungeon, and/or town at the end of that chapter. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? ![]() Soldier: Prepare yourself, rebel scum!! Arngrim : (These slipshod soldiers think they can call me "rebel scum"?)

Yes Lenneth is Valkyrie.
And if Treasure Search shows a little floating red orb when there's a treasure chest in the area, then yes. FELIPE NO ![]() Soldier: Prepare yourself, rebel scum!! Arngrim : (These slipshod soldiers think they can call me "rebel scum"?) |
Whatever you prefer it's not a bit difference. I always keep Arngrim and Lawfer and usually Mystina.
Arngrim you get right away, Lawfer in chapter 2 or 3. Mystina in chapter 5. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? ![]() Soldier: Prepare yourself, rebel scum!! Arngrim : (These slipshod soldiers think they can call me "rebel scum"?) |
Up to you really. I gave them ALL to Arngrim. He was hitting for 50k with his weakest attacks. Was well worth it giving it to just him. Just make sure that you give heavy swordsman the best swords before you transfer them. They will give 99 of those +5 strength ones each.
Jam it back in, in the dark. ![]() Soldier: Prepare yourself, rebel scum!! Arngrim : (These slipshod soldiers think they can call me "rebel scum"?) |
I only real status effect I had problems with is freeze. Freeze is kinda shit compared to VP1, since you go out of it if you move 1 step, however, I found out the hard way that if all 4 are frozen it's game over.
It especially happend a lot at the forest ruins. There's those vampires that constantly summon vampire bats and before you know it there's like 10 of them hitting you and all have a chance of doing a freeze. There's nowhere I can't reach. ![]() Soldier: Prepare yourself, rebel scum!! Arngrim : (These slipshod soldiers think they can call me "rebel scum"?) |
