it's because the character designer since FFVII till now has been the same fucking guy. Tetsuya Nomura who IMO is one of the worst things to happen to Squaresoft. All FF characters are going to look strikingly similar to prior characters until Nomura is fired. let's not forget his usage of horrible looking belt & buckles on nearly every character.

My bad. That's probably why those two FF are the best ones since VI and most likely the reason they are hated on by people who generally obsess over VII,VIII, and X. Nomura did help with Character Designs in FF XI, including story NPCs.
There's nowhere I can't reach.
