Dead Hard Drive?
Ok, I've got a question. If your hard drive just stops receiving power and refuses to spin....does that mean I've lost all the information on that hard drive? Ok, here's the story....
I've recently started using an external case for my internal hard drive. It was working fine before. So yesterday, I turned it off, unplugged everything in order to move stuff from my computer to my friends computer. So when I plugin the external case again, the hard drive LED light flashed a constant busy signal and stayed there. I then realized that the hard drive was not spinning. But a click every second or so could be heard faintly. Is there any hope for that hard drive? Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Ok, so all hope is not lost. The hard drive was not dropped or abused in anyway. The plastic part of the drive, I realized, is coarse. I'm not sure if it was smooth to begin with. Everything looks correct. It looks like it works fine, except for possibly the power input may be damaged. The External Case still works fine because I'm using it with another 60GB Hard Drive temporarily. I guess I'll try it with the IDE cables into the computer instead of USB.
How ya doing, buddy? |
