OK, so I'm finally considering purchasing a DS now. I've seen both on sale and the price is really negligible for me. Is there any major difference between the two versions of the DS? Any issues with the new one? Anything the new one fixed over the old one?

From the first page, My eyes are set on a DS Lite because of the enhanced lighting. The DS Lite didn't lose anything in the process did it?

Jam it back in, in the dark.

OK, here's my dilemna,

Nintendo DS + Mario Kart DS = $149.99 USD
Nintendo DS Lite = $129.99 USD

Actually, I'm not sure how much Mario Kart DS sells for now....but I assume about $40.

How ya doing, buddy?

I've played some of the other Mana games (Legend of Mana, Seiken Densetsu 3) and this new Mana game looks extremely promising. I was totally hooked on the previous ones, I hope this will be the same.

On another note, I guess I'll go with the DS Lite since my hands are relatively small. The battery life is what's pushing me. If it truly is what it claims to be, I'll be set.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Then take THIS! And this and this, this, HADOOUUKEN!

EDIT: Also, I finally got myself a wireless router, so no more bitching firewall and the throwing of a dongle. YAY!
Lol, yeah, I'm set. It'll be $15.00 more expensive for the DS Lite + Mario Kart DS, but if it's what it claims to be (those shots look VERY sexy) I'll be happy. Thanks guys!

Hmm....seems like the only Mario Kart DS games out are all $34.99 for a new copy and $29.99 for a used copy (at least at Gamestop). Er....Whatever...Any other games that will last a while because I don't plan on buying too many games too often. Mario Kart DS is a shoe-in, my anticipation for this game has been too much.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Totally not regretting it....This is an amazing machine. Interesting story being that I had to check 5 stores for the Mario Kart DS Game itself and the only the sixth store I checked had the actual DS Lite in stock. Maybe it's been a while since I last made a gaming puchase, but this took a ridiculously long time to hunt down. Whatever, I am loving this machine.

EDIT: Sorry, my camera sucks balls.....3.2 Megapixels.....I might need to buy a new camera too...

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

Hm.....I hear a lot of people complaining about the insane brightness, but Brightness levels 2/3 are optimal brightness IMO. Good thing I didn't get a regular DS then, Brightness level 1 was a tad too dark after playing on 2 and 3. I can see how 4 is overkill though. It's a fucking flashlight at Brightness level 4.

Hmm....did anybody else have trouble trying to configure the Wifi on the DS to work? Maybe it's because my internet connectiong really sucks, but It's all enabled and ready according to the setup. But I can't get a decent connection. The farthest I've gotten is to the "Trying to find players. Please wait a moment" after selecting Worldwide/Regional/Rival/Friend. Then comes a black screen that says that I've been disconnected from the WFC. Followed by some error code that I've forgotten. Any tips/suggestions?

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

Seconded. I was really hoping for a blue one too. But I was getting desperate after 5 shops didn't have any DS Lites. And how is that for girls?

So yeah, Are there any good DS games out right now that will last me a while? I just completed everything there is to do in Mario Kart DS (not completed, but unlocked everything). So, let's see, I was looking at the New Super Mario Bros. possibly or Advance Wars DS. Is there anything else that anybody can recommend? I need something that will last a while and will not tear up my screen too badly.

This is not to say Mario Kart DS is not fun anymore, but I'm down to just racing in VS mode or battling it out. Regardless, I need a new game to get away from Mario Kart DS for a while. I've got 3 GBA games already so no GBA recommendations. (Those are, BTW, Tales of Phantasia, Golden Sun, Golden Sun: The Lost Age)

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I was thinking about how the NSMB is a great game but too short to last for a while. I guess I'll be looking at either Advance Wars, Meteos, or Ouendan. Thanks.

Nope, no problems with the hinge. It travels with me a lot in my pocket unprotected, and even then, it's still perfect. The white DS Lite does get dirty somewhat quick though.

On a second note....maybe it's just mine, but my L shoulder button just craps out on me randomly. Does this happen to anybody else's DS?

I think the main argument against the Black was shown in the picture above. The white one doesn't show much in terms of fingerprints. Your only problem with the White one is the dirt. Both have their own setbacks.

Speaking of the brightness, it's pretty awesome. It's actually playable during a car ride in broad daylight. That's a big plus. Seeing that the Original DS got about as bright as Level 1 Brightness on my DS Lite, I'm glad I got a DS Lite now. The low brightness would have pissed me off to no end.

Anyways, when's the next big wave of DS games coming out? Well, not really wave, but mainly Final Fantasy III and Children of Mana. I heard November, is that correct?

How ya doing, buddy?

Meh, I'd love to jump back into Final Fantasy again after my hiatus after Final Fantasy IX, but there's something about Final Fantasy XII that's just.....wierd, for a lack of better words. The thing is, I like things to change, but there are certain things that should just stay the way they are. Final Fantasy is one of them. I actually like the ATB system from the earlier Final Fantasy games, but the Real time RPG thing....I dunno. I guess I'll give it a try. It'll be alongside Final Fantasy III and Children of Mana. And I suppose I'll have to get the New Super Mario Bros. soon. Man, better start saving....

You're not alone. If Square will release a Final Fantasy Tactics DS that's closer to the PS1 original, the world will be complete.

I assuem it's the news about pushing back launch titles and the price for some. Perhaps the biggest dissapointment is the cost of the Wiimote+Nunchuck combo at $60. But it's still a good deal, I'd have to say. It's not the $200 people were hoping for, so the cost of the console is probably the "assholery" that we're referring to here.

But I don't think it puts Nintendo back in the place of depending on the DS to make it through. The Wii will still be amazing, regardless.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

My point exactly. I didn't mind FFT:Advance, but I was much more attached to the original FFT. And I stand by my opinion, if FFT DS were made like the PS1, the world would truly be complete.

Man, I'd be willing to pay $70 for FFT on a DS......

But this brings me to another point. Has there been any announcements of a Zelda Adventure on the DS? Because I'd hit that too.

I'd love to see a Final Fantasy Tactics DS if it was more like the original. Tactics Advance was a lot of fun, but after awhile the lack of story just bored me too much.

Phantom Hourglass looks exciting with the way they implement the dual screens+stylus. The ability to jot notes onto a map and chart your course of travel with the stylus makes it very efficient. Does the stylus also control the sword swings? The only problem is if it doesn't, you'll have to consistently switch between the stylus and the ABXY buttons.

So how did that game get past all the testing?

Anyways, is it just me or do DS games take a while to drop in price? I could have sworn I checked The New Super Mario Bros. game for DS about 5 months ago and saw it with a pricetag of $34.99. I checked it recently and it was STILL $34.99.

Anyway, my L button is starting to fail on me again. :|

I'm come to two conclusions... Either call Nintendo Customer Support, or go and splurge on a Black DS.

I have the the imported Navy Blue one right now :| Advice?
Mine failed on me earlier (or it had really spotty detection), so I sent it in to Nintendo under warranty and they sent me a brand new one. I'd send it in, unless you really want a Black DS Lite.

Has anybody played Izuna: Legend of the Enemployed Ninja? It seems to be pretty good and seems rather interesting. And I've heard that it's has quite a bit replay value. Any opinions on the game? I've looked up some GameFAQs reviews and there's only 4 of them, but they're all pretty positive. I looked up IGN and Gamespot, both of which gave it mediocre scores. But I read through it, and it seems to be a hit or miss game with gamers, with the number one complaint being that it's rather difficult.

So yeah, Opinions?
