The OP looks really interesting, IMO. I think I'll be picking this up, but I've heard actually translating the thing is a bitch though.

That's what made it awesome, IMO. Like, I'm all for deep storylines and everything, but sometimes, I just want to kick back with one that has little to no plot and just randomness. As long as it's somewhat funny, it's all good.

I also want to know how the hell the subbers did the OP. Looks like hell to sub on time.

Anyways, I found this time's Lucky Channel to be a bit more amusing and not continuing the downward slope that it's been on since the first one.

Watching this series makes me want to watch Haruhi now...with the ridiculous amount of references and all. Yes, I haven't watched Haruhi yet.

Episodes 17 and 18 were indeed, awesome, and we finally have some indication of exactly who the hell the other people that show up in the opening are. It's also quite interesting how similar, yet simultaneously different, the characters are from each other, especially the first grade class.

As for an English dub, I really hope not. There's something about the Japanese voices that makes it charming and unique and just something that can't be copied with other languages. English voice actors piss me off anyhow, as I have yet to come across one good dub. (Then again, I don't follow dubs, but all the same. The Dual Audio anime that I do have sound horrendous in English.)

Anyway, I like these new characters, I wish they'd introduced them a bit sooner to be honest... I feel like they probably won't get enough time in now. I actually wish the entire show was longer--last time I felt that way was with Azumanga Daioh!

Dubs just have a track record of sucking ass for me, so I didn't think it'd be wise to dub it over if it were going to suck regardless. Then again, I am biased against dubs, so that's just me. If I had to recommend Lucky Star to somebody, I'd definitely recommend the subbed version over the dubbed version. I have never seen dubs better than their subbed counterparts. That was my argument.

As for the last point, this is true, isn't it? The entire series is supposed to go for 24 episodes, right? The last few characters are introduced in episode 18, leaving about 6 episodes to flush out the rest of their backgrounds, which is a bit short. It's also a bit hard to see a second season unless it focused on the students from Year 1.

I'm still waiting for a.f.k's subs. I haven't seen them in forever. Last episode I watched was 19. We're coming down the home stretch here...hopefully they didn't drop it.

Well, I'm kind of happy Lucky Star didn't get dropped (though I am waiting for Zetsubou from them as well) since we're coming down the home stretch. Only 4 more episodes to go and then they can focus all resources on Zetsubou. I really don't like switching sub groups in the middle of a series, no matter how good of a switch it is.

a.f.k's been dead for close to a year now. And yeah, I miss a.f.k.

I watched the OVA as well, and I enjoyed it a lot. I reminded me how much I loved the original series. I got a real kick out of the MMORPG bit along with the random references to random stuff (Hatsune Miku from Vocaloid and Zero from Code Geass come to mind).
