Doesn't the US almost always get a better deal than most countries? At least that's what it seems like. Except possibly Japan.

I like the Li-Ion Idea though. Good stuff.

How ya doing, buddy?

His publishing company estimates that PS3 sales will total 34 million, trumping a guesstimated 28 Xbox 360 units sold and 25 million Wii sales by 2009. Yup, Famitsu has also picked Nintendo's Wii as the next gen loser.

Even if it sounds like a legitimate statistic, it doesn't seem to likely to me since the PS2 was about 30 million units about 3 years out, I don't see the PS3 selling more than the PS2 at the same time, considering a higher price tag. I'm trying not to be biased, but is this realistic?

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

As of right now, the better way to go would be to ship with Composite cables since EVERYBODY will be able to use them. Unless you have a TV from Pre-1992 or something, you will have A/V jacks on your TV. Sony's not dumb here, if you're going to ship with component cables, you've just killed off the guys who have SDTVs and are unwilling to pay for another TV.

But if previous PS1/PS2 cables are still compatible with the PS3, then, by all means, a component connection wouldn't be a bad idea.

BTW, the screens look awesome. It seems the FPS games don't have HUDs while in gameplay. Is this the new trend or something? Because I liked the HUDs.

I'm referring mainly to this shot, by the way:

I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

Ken Kutaragi, president and group CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment, holds up a box with the PlayStation 3 during its launch ceremony in Tokyo. Sony says some older games won't play on the new console.

TOKYO (Reuters) — Sony said on Tuesday its new video game console, the PlayStation 3, does not run about 200 PlayStation and PlayStation 2 software titles properly, the latest problem the electronics maker has run into in its cash-cow game business.

The PS3, which Sony calls its most important strategic product of the year, went on sale in Japan on Saturday, setting the stage for a three-way showdown with Microsoft's already available Xbox 360 and Nintendo's Wii.

Sony said audio features do not work on some software titles when played on the PS3, which is supposed to be compatible with games designed for its previous models, while some other titles do not work on the latest machine at all.

Shares in Sony closed up 0.9% at 4,730 yen, underperforming a 1.64% gain in the Tokyo stock market's electrical machinery index IELEC.but in line with Nintendo stock.

Industry specialists say the glitches appear to be the kind of hiccups that often plague console launches and are not likely to have a lasting impact on the PS3 business.

"There are always sorts of little problems at launch ... It may take some time to make everything compatible, but I don't think it's a huge problem," KBC Securities analyst Hiroshi Kamide said.

Indeed, Microsoft received customer complaints following its Xbox launch in Japan in 2002 that the console was scratching game discs, while Sony's PS2, which it released in 2000, had compatibility problems with PS games.

Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE), Sony's game unit, plans to fix the PS3 problems by offering online upgrades for system software, SCE spokesman Satoshi Fukuoka said.

Sony sold 88,400 units of the PS3 in the first two days of the Japan launch, clearing out most stores' stock, video game magazine publisher Enterbrain said on Monday.

The PS3 will be launched in North America on Friday. Gamers in Europe must wait until March due to a glitch in commercial production of blue laser diodes, a key component of the game gear's Blu-ray high-definition DVD player.

The Tokyo-based electronics and entertainment conglomerate aims to ship 6 million units of the PS3 by March.

The original PS and PS2 have each sold more than 100 million units.

Sony, which has dominated the game market over the past decade, has packed the PS3 with its latest technology including a Blu-ray player and the Cell microchip, dubbed a "supercomputer on a chip".

But the new machine's lifelike graphics and fast downloading of game software and video clips come at a price.

Sony sells a basic model for 49,980 yen ($424.9) in Japan, almost double the price of the Wii, which will be released in the United States on Sunday and Dec. 2 in Japan. ($1=117.63 Yen)
Source

Granted, 200 Titles that don't work is a relatively small percentage of titles when you compare with all of the titles released. But still, would this be the blu-ray's doing that cannot read CDs and DVDs correctly?

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

I know the launch of the PS3 has already past, but these guys are just assholes

Seriously, So the Best Buy has 26 PS3s goin on sale, only 4 of them are keeping their PS3. The remaining 22? Going straight on eBay. Seriously, I hope nobody buys their shit. What an asshole-like thing to do.

Well yeah, but that's just 1. When the majority of the PS3s at Best Buy are going on eBay, that's a different story. I think the percentage was like 85% being resold.

Any TV made in the 90s will have a s-video slot or maybe even some component somewhere on it. You're just being silly.
I wouldn't guarantee that. I'm still stuck on Composite for now. Granted my TV is rather old (maybe 10 years now? Still puts it about 1995/1996) But Composite is still the way to go right now for me.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

So kinda like Playin Music on WinAMP (or some similar program) while playing PC/Emulated games or just having a CD Player next to you while playing any game.

I'm actually curious about how closely the PS3's Linux can imitate PC functions. Obviously, It ain't got shit in terms of data input (unless you have a USB Keyboard) But would it take storage devices like additional hard drives and play back non-DVD/BluRay movies (e.g. AVI, OGM, MKV format). Because that would be pretty useful. I'm still rather surprised (even if it's old news) that a Wiimote works with a PS3. But hell, there's a good mouse right there.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

To: Capcom

We (The people that have signed this petition) feel very left out in your decision to make Devil May Cry 4 a Multi-Platform title, and hereby agree to boycott your sale of Capcom affiliated games. This is due to your decision to turn your back on your most faithful gaming company. For years we have enjoyed games, we have reaped the benefits of your committment to Sony. We find it absolutely demoralizing for not only the gamers, but also Sony itself. We want you to know that will not, and should not stand for your actions, and therefore withold our option of buying your product.

Sincerely,

The Undersigned
You have got to be shitting me. How do you feel left out from a title if it goes mutliplatform? If anything, shouldn't it be inclusion of others in the game? Capcom turned it's back on it's most faithful gaming company? What? Isn't DMC4 still a PS3 game? How the hell is it also demoralizing? Exactly what morals are in question here? The last sentence just doesn't make any sense at all, grammatically, so I assume that it's supposed to read We want you to know that we will not stand for your actions, and therefore, will not buy your products. Somewhat contradictory isn't it? We won't stand for it, so we'll do nothing.

I dunno, I thought it was a joke, but there's about 3000 "digital signatures" (well half of them are jokes). But yeah, I found that somewhat amusing.

Anyways, I heard in the UK that Sony gave out free 46" HDTVs to PS3 customers at launch. Lucky bastards. I would have bought the PS3 just for the TV itself at $800 US after currency conversion.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.
