We do shit the good-old-fashion Japanese way: every and ANY excuse to go out and drink, we do (Visitors, farewell parties, promotion celebrations, etc etc etc). Which happens to be my favorite method, because where there is drinking involved with japanese business people, apparently Karaoke also ensues. Which by the way, if you haven't tried it, singing 80's songs + lots of booze + your bosses acting all sorts of silly due to too much shochu, is one helluva sight to see & enjoy (it's actually quite fun).
Then there's all sorts of activities I kinda-sorta started (like asking the managers if it's ok to do a surprise cake break for ppl in the department who have birthdays that week / month), and then there's the annual (?) departmental (?) bowling fest that I suggested two years ago that had also remained somewhat of a tradition as well (I'm planning it again for May 1st this year and we'll see if the 3rd time is really a charm).
There are company-wide events, but as our department's is more tight-nit together, we like to throw fun activities on our own sometimes (on the company credit card even, since the managers sign off on it--which is GREAT when you're the employee who suggested the idea but you're not responsible of managing the payment for it).
Jam it back in, in the dark.
