The moments that either my mom or my father look at me and tell me "you got fat" or "you look like shit" or "those bags under your eyes have gotten darker," and I know they really mean "you under a lot of stress lately?" "are you ok?" and "have you been getting enough sleep?"
The words my parents choose are straight to the point and painfully blunt (seemingly unnecissarily in some people's eyes), but the moments I can respond back to such comments with, "I'm ok, thanks" seem like the "understanding" moments between me and my parents. Jam it back in, in the dark. |
