The only supplement I'm taking is Vit C (also in chewable form), and the occasional multivitamin. My mom made us pop multivits once a day when we were younger, she said it was good for us. I do study nutrition, and as long as you include a variety of foods in your diet there shouldn't be able vitamin/mineral deficiency problems. Plus popping a multivit does not necessarily mean that your body will be able to absorb everything. So the key is still eating healthy with a range of fruits and veg.
I still have a problem drinking water directly from the tap- I must have my water boiled before I drink any of it.
