Pretty: A girl who is beautiful, elegant, one who can look great without showing alot of skin. The kind of girl that painters want to make portraits of. I don't think pretty is anything like cute however. Some guys lump them together, but to me pretty is a more mature, womanly look, where cute is a more girly look.
Hot: A girl with sex appeal. The type that shows off her body. Basicly a more "slutty" kind of attractive. I don't mean to say that hot girls are all sluts, but I just don't know how else to word it.
Both are good, but of the two I prefer pretty. It's also possible to be both at the same time, but it's rare to see a girl like that. Often times the pretty girls have a better personality, but not always.
The best example I can think of to show the differance bewteen the two is actually from anime LOL. If you've seen "Ah! Megami Sama" you'll know what I mean. Belldandy is a pretty girl, Urd is a hot girl.
