WAHOO! They finally added backgrounds to the battles!! XD Yay, I'm happy. Maybe this time the monsters will actually have faint animations than simply falling through the floor. It wouldn't make sense this time around as the floor now has detail instead of a white circle.

The graphics, while not much of a graphical leap, is still looking very nice. I wish they showed pics of Pokémon that we haven't already seen before : /

Jam it back in, in the dark.

But the ones shown in the ads are the same Pokémon they've already shown months ago. Unless you've been kept in the dark all this time about it, these monsters are old news. I was hoping they'd show brand new monsters, and not things that are just baby forms of existing ones. I hated the idea of pre-evolutions in the games.

Meh, graphics isn't important much for Pokémon. People complained that the Harvest Moon DS game uses the same sprites as GBA Friends of Mineral Town, and so didn't look like a DS game at all, but I think the sprites in FoMT were very good anyway, so I don't mind playing a FoMT look-alike.

The graphics for Diamond/Pearl are good enough for me. It looks like it captures the Pokémon feel very well.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

The 3D'ness of the GCN games are a hit and miss to me. Some pokémon look awesome in 3D, while others are simply hideous (Machamp anyone?). Call me crazy, but I very much prefer the GB-style graphics, much like how I prefer the GBA style graphics in the Harvest Moon series to their 3D counterparts on consoles. Some things are just better left on a specific console.

I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

Seconded. I didn't like the fact none of the monsters actually touched each other. They run just a short way and then magically 'hits' the opponent. That's just lame.

I was speaking idiomatically.

True, but the other Pokémon on previous covers were never this freaky looking. Monster designs are getting worse with each new game : /

Granted, I do like the look of some newer monsters though, like Seviper and Lairon.

Aww, but Pikachu is cute. NOT! I've always preferred Raichu myself. Claydol is pretty freaky, but it's not on any cover, alas.

Oh geez, all those new Pokémon are hideous, especially those...those...things on the covers.

Oh well, I'll still be getting the game anyway.

Heh, same here. I always gotta have a Sandshrew. Sandslash owns, and the Shiny version uber owns.

As for Diamond and Pearl, I think my little sister said she's going to get Pearl, in which case I'll get Diamond. We only have one DS between us though, so we couldn't trade even if we wanted to. I personally doubt the games will be world wide wi-fi compatible.

I got Sapphire for Seviper :D

OMG, we can trade monsters online?! Awesome news for me. This would be a must have reason to get the game.
I hope there's some new monsters leaked out soon. I don't like any I've seen so far : /

Cool commercial. Thanks. That supposedly Electabuzz evolution is actually pretty nice, compared to all the the monsters I've seen so far. Back before I found out about it, I once thought Torkoal was Slugma's final evolution, so that monster may actually be separate from Electabuzz.

Online play. Best news I've heard all day!

That squirrel looks like it's the bastard child of the Pikachu family or something. It's bad enough we already have Pluse whatever and Minun. Blah, can't spell.

How ya doing, buddy?

I was thinking how better the game would be if I could fight random opponents until I read your post, Shonos. I don't like fighting anyone who uses Legendaries in their teams, especially if their entire team comprises of Legendaries.

On the other hand, I think having random people is better for trading. You remember the recent games where you could post what you wanted and what you'd trade it for on a bulletin board? Well I really liked that idea, and having random people would certainly make it even better if they have what you're looking for, as opposed to several friends who may not even have what you're looking for. There's far more strangers in the world than friends.

Meh, I don't often use any Psychics in my team, except for Grumpig and Alakazam at one point.

@Muzza: It can't be any different from psyhical(sp?) attacks having no effect at all on Ghost types.

Oh, I was talking in general, not anything directly related to starting Pokémon. Sure, having new starting Types would be interesting, but all the same, I don't mind having the same Fire/Water/Grass combo in every game.

Sorry. Diamond and Pearl are DS games. They won't work on a GBA/SP. It looks like you can trade your old Pokémon from the GBA games though.

Blah. I only like the look of the Water type. Penguin lovers finally get their wish. So far I am not thrilled with any of the new monsters they've shown so far. Game Freak's sure run out of ideas.

Digimon for the win.

Seviper for the win.

As for R/S designs, I like Seviper, Lairon, Aggron, Linoone, Grovyle, Sharpedo (the front half anyway), Torkoal, Whiscash, Crawdaunt, Spheal and Metagross. Each generation has their share of cool monsters, although in general, they're getting worse with each new game.

Vigoroth is indeed a sloth. Its entire line is.

Stupid pokédex! They called Sandshrew a mouse pokémon when you can clearly tell it's not a mouse! I refuse to call it a mouse.

I also think the new starters look like crap too, so I'll be ditching it as soon as I find something better, yok yok!

I found new Pokémon! Yeah sorry, but it's pretty darn big.

The otter-ish one looks kinda cute, one of the nicest looking new monsters I've seen so far, and the parrot looks fine too.

Is the one on the left a pre-evo or a new monster?

Oh? Darn. Thought they were new. The otter is cuter than Daxter, IMO. Oh, and ...what's wrong with the parrot? At least he looks like an actual animal : /

The Water and Grass final evos look kickass. My sister wants Water so I guess I'll be going with Grass.

I wonder what that very floofy beaver type monster evolves to.
