Wow. I never knew there was a 5th season...I guess I haven't been kept up with the news. I'm not sure I like the idea of having teenagers, plus the fact we've already seen Agumon in 2 seasons already. However, I'm glad they're keeping the main character count low, ala Tamers and Frontier.

I'd need more information about it first before deciding if it's worth my time. Tamers was the best of the bunch, and I doubt this one can knock it off the throne.

P.S. The Tamers dub rules. Can't say the same for the 02 Adventure dub though. Ye gads, that sure was hideous.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Voicework or not, the jokes in the 02 dub was horrific. It totally ruined the season for me. For me, I think Tamers had the best music.

I think Tamers is the best for many, many reasons: better character development, better Digimon, better plot, better music, better characters, and the fact that it's more dramatic/serious than the other seasons. For example, when Digimon bite the dust, they stay that way. I didn't mind the card slashing at all. The dub had better jokes than the sub.

I'll watch a new eps of Savers when it comes out, and decide then what to do think of it. I don't know what's up with yet another canine Digimon though. Aside from 02, every season has a starring doggy Digimon. Garurumon/Renamon/Garmmon anyone? I do love canines, however, so it's fine with me.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I didn't hate Frontier, but it just wasn't as good as earlier seasons. I'm not a traditionalist, so I didn't mind at all if humans could change into Digimon. I thought it was a pretty unique concept, and I'm sure lots of kids would love to be able to become Digimon and fight themselves instead of having a Digimon fight for them.

Unfortunately, I thought the plot was draggy. There were too many sidestops and too many encounters with silly Digimon like those hamburger guys and trains. The Digimon designs in Frontier were quite lacking, except for the main characters. I still haven't seen the entire show actually, although I have them all DLed. I guess after Tamers I thought Frontier would have the same quality, but it didn't.

I haven't caught the dubbed 4th movie last year. It aired on Toon Disney and I don't get that channel. I sincerely hope it's better than the Digimon Movie, as it was hideous, and I usually LIKE dubs. I have seen all 8 movies subbed, but I really want to see the two Tamers movies dubbed. My favourite movie is Runaway Digimon Express, followed by Digimon X-Evolution. The latter was quite darkish for Digimon, even darker than Tamers, which was a refreshing change of pace from the norm. MetalGarurumonX rocked. Digimon Express had Rika/Ruki trying to kill Takato with a pipe. Awesome stuff.

My sentiments exactly, Lee-chan. When it comes to anime with monsters, Tamers is the only series I'd recommend. In fact, I did just that several days ago with an online friend of mine.

I'm still confused as to why Tamers killed the anime franchise though. It had great ratings at first, then hit rock bottom later. I thought the Japanese LIKED dark stories and such, but apparently they didn't like the way Tamers did it. I personally loved it, but whatever.

As for Savers, I'd watch it regardless of the terrible lack of info. After all, it's the first Digimon anime to appear in three long years. I never thought I'd ever see a new series again. Huzzah!

I agree somewhat with Conan-the-3rd.

Adventure's dub was decent. Zero 2 sucked arse. The writers apparently felt like adding a bunch of horrible jokes that had left me cringing in my seat. I've only seen one episode of the Japanese version so I can't say whether they have crappy jokes too.

After the crap that was Zero 2, I thought Tamers would be just as bad. I was very pleasantly surprised. There's still jokes in it, but they're actually funny this time around. They pretty much stopped joking altogether further into the episodes though, which is a good thing. In other words, the Tamers dub ROCKED. It is a much better dub than Zero 2. After watching a few eps in Japanese, however, I was disappointed that none of the funny jokes were in it.

I've barely seen many eps of the Frontier dub, but it didn't seem so bad from what I've watched. Neemon's voice was much better in Japanese.

How ya doing, buddy?

I take it you've never heard of the Digimon Trading Card Game?

It looks like the people who didn't like Tamers are the same people who don't ever want to see things change. Adventure and Zero 2 both were consistent since they take place in the same universe, but Tamers added lots of new stuff, including characters and evolutions. The most common complaints I see from disgruntled fans are "I want to see [insert name of first or second season character here]!" "I want the old Digimon!" "Why are they using cards? The first season didn't have it!"

I LIKE the fact that Digimon tries new things each season. Compare that to Pokémon, a show that NEVER changes every season. It's the same damn storyline every bloody time. That's what made me stop watching the show, since it became so very horribly repetitive. It goes to show you that change is good.

Oh man, Leomon's death scene was so sad (assuming you mean the one in Tamers), especially when you also consider the fact that Digimon aren't reborn in that universe. I can't remember Wizardmon's death scene, but what about BlackWargreymon? His was sad too :(

Then there's Gotsumon and Pumpmon? They certainly didn't deserve being killed. Oh the bright side, Gabumon looked so adorable in that bear outfit.

Aw man, now I'm tempted to use a Digimon avatar/sig theme. It'd be cool if there was a related theme week.

Spoiler:

Oh...forgot about the other Leomon and Wizardmon (I forgot his variant name >_>) deaths. I guess the writers wanted to make Leomon consistent and make him die all the time :( Just watch...there will be a Leomon in Savers and have him die too. I thought it was hilarious when Jeri was chasing after Leomon, especially with those expressions he was making.

Wow, I actually influenced someone, hahaha.

Anyway, I gave in and changed my avatar and sig. Gabumon is my fave Digimon in Adventure, but I do like Guilmon more.

Getting closer and closer to the Savers airdate! I think they should have used X Digimon instead though. I dig lots of the designs.

Even if you didn't like the later seasons, you should still watch a few episodes of Savers. Your opinion wouldn't be valid otherwise, if you get what I mean. Even then, sometimes shows start out crappy at first, but gets way better later, so unless it's really extra bad, I'd be watching the entire run before I can form a better opinion.

Man, I wish I had real Digimon CDs. Which one do you have? I'd love to get a rip from you if it's something I need.

Since Savers seem to be going in a different direction this time around, it's very possible that the main character this time won't have goggles. I don't see the appeal of an older teenager running around wearing a goggle either. However, goggles have always been a tradition among Digimon so I'd still like to see it, despite what I said earlier.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I still haven't seen all of Frontier yet. I have all the subbed episodes on DVD, yet I don't feel like watching them.

Haha, that's why I don't often buy import CDs a lot, although I'd like to. The price just turns me off. The last import CD I got was Final Fantasy VIII. It's an original, and it was for only a measly $20 USD, far cheaper than what I normally see on other websites. Are the CDs you got the ones with the image songs for the Digimon and his/her partner? If so, there's a lot of those for each season, so I wanted to know exactly which ones you have.

Can't say I like much of the American Digimon music, but I did like 'Hey Digimon' despite it's cheesiness. Actually, I can't remember much of the music from the movie, so I guess I'd like a rip. You do VBR? That's what I generally prefer, but if you can't, anything 192 and up would be good.

Lee-chan:

1. Believe (AiM)
2. Christmas Alone (Impmon/Beelzemon)
3. Black Christmas (Yamaki and the two girls)
4. Digimon Christmas Medley (Guilmon, Renamon, Terriermon, Calumon)
5. Santamon wo Sagase (The tamers)
6. Sorry. I don't have this song. It's called Utaou Bokura no Merry Christmas, and Wada Kouji sings it.

P.S. My favourite Digi OP is The Biggest Dreamer.

As much as I'd like to see a Tamers sequel, the ending seemed pretty close-ended to me, and it was a nice sweet ending too. Besides, the second Tamers movie takes place after the ending, so that's good enough to call it a sequel.

I don't like that girl's plant Digimon either. Not only do I hate plant monsters in video games and TV shows, but it's Champion form looks similiar to Sunflora the Pokémon. I bloody hate Sunflora >_>

In fact, all the Rookie forms don't look so hot. That dog Digi reminds me of Bearmon. His Champ form has glove claws on his front paws, just like Grizzmon, and both Digis are blue -_-; Give me Garurumon or Garmmon any day. Even Agumon looks worse than he did in Adventure. Compare both Agumons. The Savers Agumon has oval nostrils, whereas the Adventure Agumon has normal looking dino-like ones. He looked more realistic.

As for my favourite Ending theme, I don't like them as much as the Opening themes (I love them all except for Target). I think Ashita wa Atashi no Kaze ga Fuku is my favourite.

P.S. If only there was a Digimon video game that was a good as any of the Pokémon ones. The Digimon games that I do like all have problems with them that prevent them from becoming awesome games. Is anyone else peeved that Digi Rumble Arena 2 was made only for Adventure fanboys? I was POed that only one measly Tamers Digi made it to the character roster, and there were 4 of them in the first game!!!

P.P.S. Still waiting for WereGarurumon to show up in a fighting video game *sigh* He's my favourite Digimon :(

P.P.P.S. Is it just me, or are we the only Digi fans on this board?

Okay, sorry for not posting in this thread. I wanted to wait until a subbed version came out. I never download raws. Here are my thoughts on the first episode:

It is a lot more enjoyable than I thought. While I don't really like the designs of the new characters, Savers could be as good as Tamers if they play their cards right. One thing that struck me was that there was a lot more close-knit bonding between the partners than most of Adventure! That's something I definitely appreciated in Tamers (Guilmon and Takato particular), and I certainly welcome that here too.

I actually liked Agumon in this one. I never liked him much in Adventure, but this Agumon is funnier, more 'macho' if you want to call it that, and GeoGreymon's design is neat. Rawr!! I loved those swirly eyes when he got hungry, haha.

Doesn't Kudamon remind you of Linoone from Pokémon? Maybe they're both weasels or mink or whatever the heck they are? It's pretty awkward to see adults with Digimon partners though, but who knows. Maybe it'd turn out fine. I'm just not used to it yet.

The new digivice looks like a cel phone!

Is it just me, or does the general public already know that Digimon exist? I didn't think that ol' fisherman would have a spare digivice on him!

I'm looking forward to more episodes. I love the work WPP has done on the Digimon series, but yes, they're pretty slow. I hope they don't bail out altogether though, like Toriyama's World with Naruto. Their subs were the best, but they were so damn slow that they eventually stopped subbing the series altogether : /

P.S. I like the evolution song!!! Anyone got a full version? :D

How ya doing, buddy?

Man, I hope this thread isn't dead. It's not often I get to talk to other fans! None of my online friends watches the series :(

After all the talk about Savers in here, I thought more people besides Conan-the-3rd would have downloaded the episodes to watch : /

Spoiler:

Anyway, I've just seen the second episode this morning and it was hilarious! I loved the scene with the box, as it bought back fond memories of Tamers. The whole scene in Masaru's house was a blast. He [Masaru] has a lot of great expressions.

Sunflowmon is horrible, sorry to say. She goes down just after one measly attack, and Yoshino doesn't do anything to help Masaru afterwards. If she's supposed to be a top agent of DATS, then I shudder to think how the other agents fare.

It's only the second episode, but I'm already growing quite fond of the show. It looks to be a combination between Adventure and Tamers, the best of both worlds. Now if only Yoshino was a tad more pro-active.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Get the With The Will (WTW) ones, or Wolf Pack Productions (WPP) whenever they get around to subbing it.

@soulsteelgray, they go to the Digital World in the next several episodes. The first episodes are usually the worst, since you have to go through the trouble of introducing everyone and setting up the stage. However, I've enjoyed the 2nd Savers ep very much, which is indeed promising.

I'm still iffy on those digivices. They look more like MP3 players or something. It is pretty nifty how Digimon can be stored inside them, however. It makes it very convenient when travelling, and you don't attract attention to yourself. It's too bad Takato is in the wrong series. I'm sure he would've benefited from one of these XD

The only Digimon I like so far is also Agumon, which is surprising because I've never liked that Rookie much. He has a very amiable personality in Savers and makes a good partner for Masaru. They're both very amusing together :3 At least Sunflowmon, while a plant monster, has some reptile parts to her (it?). I like Kudamon, but I'm biased because I think he's a combination of Furret and Linoone, two Pokémon which I love. That turtle Digimon may get some backlash from Pokémon fans claiming he's a Squirtle rip-off : / Hopefully Gaomon would be cool. He makes his first appearance in the third episode.

I think that old guy could be related to Masaru, like his father or grandfather. That's what the general consensus is so far to the fans.

What I really want to see is AeroVeedramon in Savers. He's one of my favourites, but to date he hasn't appeared in any of the shows. Some other new Digimon enemies would be nice too. Flymon and Cockatrimon are such pretty old monsters. A ton of new monsters have arrived since then. Why don't the animation company use them?

I think Savers has lots of potential to be on par with Tamers if they keep it up, although I doubt it will surpass Tamers. That holds a special place in my heart. I haven't had this much fun at a Digimon episode since, well, when I last saw Tamers! That ep where Juri was going after Leomon was a riot!

The Digital World appears in either episodes 5 or 6.

I was speaking idiomatically.

I saw episode 3 last night and couldn't type up my 'review' until tonight. Everything's contained in the spoilers:

Spoiler:

After the great second episode, I was kind of disappointed with this one, although it's mainly because of Tohma's introduction. I can tell I'm going to hate him from the get go, because his attitude and personality is pretty much the same as Sasuke (Naruto), and I hate Sasuke. The rivarly between Tohma and Masaru are very similiar too Sasuke and Naruto as well, which could be a bad or good thing depending on the direction the writers take with it. Unfortunately, it also appears that Gaomon is just as bad as Tohma. : /

Toei seems to be getting lazy, as the first half of the episode had some pretty sloppy artwork. The second half was good though.

Did anyone besides me think those PetitMeramon are, um, cute?

I may say more if other people comment.

For someone who is an angry person, he sure has the best expressions, so it all evens out, haha. I don't think he's really that angry anyway. I think he's funny, but that's just me. Tohma, on the other hand, should be shot.

Remember, it's only the third episode. It takes time for some character development (if any) to occur, so stick it there, hee hee.

Wow, so nobody likes Tohma so far. I thought lots of people liked guys like those, as evidenced by the myraid of Sasuke fans *GAG!* I'm the person who always cheers for the underdog.

However, Naruto is my favourite anime, even though Sasuke is a prick and whatnot, so I'm still having hopes for Digimon Savers. I'll post in here whenever new eps get subbed, to keep you up to date.
