How goes your side trip? I'm doing the same thing you're doing. I've played for eight hours, with small breaks on occasion and finished several quests, joined the Hunt Club, and defeated some normal and Elite marks. *whew!* I certainly did a lot today, but I haven't scratched the surface yet. There's still a gazillion more things I need to do. FFXII is the first game since FFVIII where going out of your way to do non-important things can be so much fun.

The Hunts in this game is so much better than than that sidequest in FFX where you had hunt monsters to get an important item. Was that ever boring.

The level V Hunts I've accomplished so far were easy. Yay for pumped up parties with Bubble Belts and things.

My little sister is sick, and didn't want me making noise in the living room, so after I ate diner after 8 hours of play, I went right back to the bedroom to play some more. Of course, that's not exactly good for my health, and thus I now have a headache. The day was very fun, though, so I shall not complain. Besides, my big sister is coming home today (she went to Japan), and she got my Jump Ultimate Stars during her stay there. Whoo!

I didn't know you were over level 80, Metal Sphere! I'm only in my 40's.

Hey, I just accepted the hunt for Pecsodemon or whatever-the-hell it's name is, before I stopped playing for good. The thing is, I checked the map to see where it was in Giruvegan, and was horribly dismayed to see that it's extremely far in from the damn entrance/teleport stone. I assume there's like, no faster way to get to this mark, eh? Rats. I HATE travelling through Giruvegan and the Waterway. It's bad enough that Nabudis sidequest involved my making sveeral trips into the Waterway, but Giruvegan is worse. Bah!

My second trip through the game netted me with a few more hunts, plus 2 Espers. Whoo! Finally got that one in the Zet. Caverns and the one in the Barheim Passage. I was in there solely to get the Bloodwing (didn't know it would be so far in), and after I defeated it, I decided to go straight to the nearest exit, which was just to the West of the place where the Bloodwing was. Anyway, I came to a save point (WAHOO! Those Dead Bones and Spectors were a total pain!) and then went into the room beyond. Okay, at this point, I totally forgot that there was an Esper lurking in the Passage, and when I ran toward that room beyond, I suddenly remembered. I thought to myself, "Oh wait, isn't there supposed to be an Esper in here? That GIANT room right in front of me looks to be a perfect place for a boss battle. I think it was in Terminus 17, according to the boss of those two Seeqs." So I stopped running and checked the map. Lo and behold, I was right! D'oh! I didn't want to fight it just yet, but I went in anyway (I'm right beside it, so I might as well. Besides, I wanna get outta the place ASAP), and I won. Yay.

That is my story. Wasn't that so exciting?

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

I started playing game again. All I did today was complete the Antlion, Belitos and Trickster hunts. I never thought I'd see actual voice overs during a Hunt, so that was cool.

I suppose I'm already halfway done with the Marks. I am at a little over 20 right now.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Well, those Headless actually appears in the actual storyline much later than where you are in the game, so it's probably no wonder they're killing your party. I'd advise against going after the Antlion for now.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Ouchies. Yes, better armour would definitely help. I was skimping on armour earlier in the game until the difficulty ramped up considerably. After getting better armour, the going was a lot easier. I only have one bubble belt :D

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Since everyone is talking about Espers, I tried getting that one in the Stilshrine of Miriam, and I got my ass kicked, with no way of using magic. Add to that all those status ailments (Stop, Poison, Slow, etc) and a gazillion skeleton sidekicks.

I didn't play much today. Just finished one hunt: the Lyndworm. Wasn't hard, but even a big quickening chain didn't finish it off, despite having just a fraction of HP left before the chain even started.

I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

I don't remember any Behemoths in FFVI :(

I didn't like the music much at first, but the more I played, the more I liked it. They certainly fit the locations they play in, although they're not the type of music that I'd listen to outside of the game.

As of right now, FFXII is my favourite PS2 game. I don't have many PS2 games, so I guess that's not really surprising. There's loads of things to like about it. Unfortunately, I like it more than FFVIII, but FFVIII's FMVs are still more memorable for me, and Squall's still my favourite character.

I'm looking forward to FFXIII now, but I doubt I'll ever be getting a PS3 anytime soon. Instead, I'll get the DS game instead.

OK, aside from album and license board comments, I tried defeated some more Marks today. Rank VI ones, specifically. The first one I killed (Overlord) was too easy, but then I tried the Giant Malboro next, and died horribly. What a big turnaround!

Since Marks are getting harder to kill now, I'm going to start going to those optional dungeons and such. I noticed that several VI Hunts has monsters lurking in these dungeons, so I can't exactly get to them.

I thought it was time to catch up on the project too, so I wrote down a fair amount of monster info for the bestiary.

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

Bah...this sucks. I couldn't play FFXII for the last several days. My little sister has been hogging the TV and won't let me play. "You can play on Friday," she says to me. Great! That's the night I have my weekly BF2 session >_>

I was planning on opening up the dungeon in Nabudis too.

Bah.

In regards to the 'movie' sequences, I agree that some of like, like the intro, ar quite good and movie-esque, but I still feel that the FFVIII sequences were better handled and more exciting to look at. Of course, since nobody likes the game, I won't get anyone agreeing with me :D

Let's hope FFXIII is as fun as FFXII. Too bad I'm not getting a PS3. though.

Wow, Mush loves FFVIII too, and he has played it on PC. I thought I was the only one!

I also agree that in-game cutscenes are getting good enough that they could easily replace FMVs. In terms of gameplay and such, FFXII easily tops FFVIII, but VIII is a special game for me, so I hold it in high regard.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Have you checked the bazaar goods? I got several there, but one of the sidequests gives you Wyrm Shot. I think there are others, but I can't remember what it was though. I think it was the one with the Cactuar look-alikes?

Oh, since I did lots of sidequests and hunts already, I decided to go on ahead with the main plot. I'm at the lighthouse right now, and just unlocked the sealed room in there. I like how Hydro looks like a normal dragon instead of yet another Wyrm boss. There seems to be more Wyrm enemies/bosses than more traditional dragons.

Before that, I went to Nabudis for the first time, where I died from Fury. D'oh! Does Dispel work against Berserk?

P.S. I checked the guide and saw an upcoming boss named Fenrir. Yay. The thing is, the boss is a giant anthro white tiger and not a wolf. I guess they wanted to break tradition.

I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

I'm repeating the same thing I said in my journal:

Quote:
After spending the better part of the day in the Pharos Lighthouse (ye gads, and I thought Giruvegan was long!), I decided to win the game after dinner. My little sister was watching me fight the final boss, and I...won. Yay. Hearing the characters say 'Bahamoot' makes my skin crawl. It just sounds so sucky.

The credits is pretty cool, showing various concept art, lots of which aren't in the art book that came with the strat guide. I was disappointed to see that there was no additional scene after the credits. The last few FF games had it, so I was expecting one. I noticed that Steve Blum is the voice actor for that Bangaa Hunter, Ba'gamman or whatever he's called. Cool.

I haven't done all the cool hunts and stuff, so I'll still be playing it.

All in all, it's an awesome game and definitely one of my favourites in the FF series. I hope FFXIII continues this trend, although I won't be getting a PS3 in the near future.

P.S. I never used any Gambits and never bothered linking Espers to my characters besides Belias and Mateus.

P.P.S. My playtime is over 80 hours. FFXII is one of the few RPGs where I actually bothered to do sidequests. Hunting dangeous monsters is so much fun.
Oh, and I'm adding more stuff to say. I still have that Bestiary project to do, but now tha I've won, I can concentrate more on that from now on.

It's cool that the final boss has some of Bahamut's signature attacks.

I was speaking idiomatically.

I only did up to FFVI hunts, so I haven't seen anything past that yet. Dunno what Yiazmat is. I only found 1 rare trophy so far too.

ENDING SPOILERS
Spoiler:

Yes, I like how the ending basically wraps everything up and that everyone basically goes back with their own lives. I was disappointed that Balthier never shows up, but yes, his scene in the 'Bahamoot' (XD) definitely made up for his absence. I love his lines there, especially "You know what they say about the leading man. He never dies." He and Fran are so cool together.

FFVIII still has the best ending for me though, but I bet you already knew I was going to say that :D

P.S. I'd rather have the final boss to be easy, as opposed to so hard that I can't see the ending.

OK I defeated the Wild Malboro (a hunt) today! After saving at the screen before, I then travelled back through the Golmore Jungle to collect my prize, but I espied a lone Mantis around the left corner, and I thought to myself, "I've never seen a Biding Mantis in Golmore before, so I bet it's one of those rare monsters!" I proceeded to attack it, only to die a HORRIBLE DEATH when it killed everyone in the party with one hit each. JOY. I didn't manage to run away either.

Really, is it a rare game, or is it an uber strong normal enemy that I've just never seen until today? I failed to see it mentioned in the guide, but I'm sure I must have been looking in the wrong section.

P.S. I typed up several monsters for the Bestiary. Whoo, now I can get cracking on that.

Bring along tons of Hankerchiefs of whatever they're called, and get rid of the small bombs ASAP. If you're oiled and they explode, it can do a considerable amount of damage. When the boss reaches its half-way mark, it's best to finish it off with quickenings. If not, King Bomb will restore its health, and you don't want that, especially when it is capable of doing it several times. Start the chain before it has a chance to do so.

About that Bide Mantis, I got 2 Bubble Belts and Curaja and I really have no idea what Nihaopaloa is. Care to explain?

Jam it back in, in the dark.

It'd take longer to kill him that way though, unless you don't mind it.

So assuming I got Nihaopaloa equipped, I could cast, say, Phoenix Down on an undead enemy and instantly kill it? That sounds very useful. Where can I get this accessory?

Man, I'm not at the 100 mark yet I'm currently 85 hours in, and I had just did the first part of Battle of The Bridge too, but I couldn't do the second half because the enemies on the way there are at least 10 levels higher than me Waahhh, I wanted to fight him too. I got the Genji Gloves and Shield already. I had to go buy the Thief's Cuffs to make it easier to steal. The first time I fought him, I could only get the Shield. The Cuffs make it easier cause it didn't take me long to get both items at all.

I tried defeating Ixion but I couldn't even get to the mark. I got swarmed by uber levelled enemies and died

I did defeat Carrot though. It was easy.

I level up everyone except Penelo, and I don't feel bad at all for taking the extra step to power them all up. Battling is just too much fun in the game that levelling doesn't even feel like a chore.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?
