I think the Chocobos you can ride in the game are downright awesome, and I thought the FFX Chocobos were the pinnacle of awesomeness. The wild Chococos are far flatter and not as detailed though, which sucks.
FFXII has a lower poly count than FFX? I never knew that. It's amazing since the character models in addition to said Chocobos are indeed a large improvement over the FFX models. I'd love to see how FFXIII fares in that department now. As for other matters, I started on some side quests today and did some looting to get better armour. I've been getting everything else but have been skimpy with the defense portion. That's probably why the enemies in the Phon Coast are kicking my ass. I solved the problem of not finding Haste in Eruypt(sp?) Village. I finally saw it in the list when talking to the merchant, but it was greyed out. I thought I hadn't purchased it before, so I never bothered to check too closely at the greyed out list, and none of my characters had got the license for it yet XD The past few posts seem pretty depressing to me. It seems like pretty much everyone, save for one or two, are becoming less inclined/motivated to play the game. The battle system is so fun that I honestly don't mind grinding for cool loot and to get LP/levels. For the record, the game itself is incredibly fun, whether it's doing sidequests or following the main story. I'm still enticed to keep on playing. The License board is fun and all, but I prefer the Sphere Grid. It's shaped like a cute game board, and it's just too fun moving around the board as if I was playing a mini game or something :D You could also see in advance what techs/magic/whatever was coming up, so you can plan in ahead where you wanted the people to go. The License Board leaves you blind, basically. Sucks there's no mini-games though. I haven't had any fun playing a mini-game in FF since Triple Triad. That game rocked. I was speaking idiomatically.

P.S. WTF is the running mini-game? It won't make you throw the PS2 out the window ala Dodger Chocobo? How ya doing, buddy? |

As long as it's Triple Triad and not Tetra Master, I'd be cool with it. They made an online Triple Triad game, but it was only available in Japan. Did that ever suck!!!
I don't think there's any Espers that are lost forevers. I also agree with Dr. Uzuki. Not since FFVIII have I found characters that are pretty much all likable in one form or another. I haven't found any that dislike so far, quite unlike past games, especially in FFX-2. Penelo is the only one who doesn't have much going for her, and she doesn't get much development to boot. Everyone else is coming along nicely. They even gave the judges character. They could have just made them all evil, one-dimensional people, but they didn't. The great voice acting really makes them come more alive too. My only complaint is that I wish there was a playable Bangaa character. That would have rocked. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
Man...I just came back after a grueling battle with the nasty Wyrm in the Westersand (the one that only comes during a sandstorm). After more than five tries, I managed to kick its keister. Like geez, all these Hunts rank III and up are uber tough for me, but you get a nice warm fuzzy feeling inside when you beat them. Now I have to stock up on more ethers. I had to use a lot just to scrape a win, and my entire party was down to a few HP.
Still haven't killed the Earth Tyrant yet though. I've tried with Decoy and Haste and Protect and all the good stuff, and I still lose. I found that Decoy works wonders...but doesn't work so well the further the fight goes. The stupid dinosaur doesn't even go after the decoy. : / Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Man...I only cake-walked through Ranks I and II. Once III sprang up, I've been having big trouble. I start off fine, but then all goes to hell :D
Spat, I was at level 30/31 when I fought that Ring Wyrm or whatever it was called, with everyone over 2000HP. No guest character (would've liked those hi-potions or phoenix downs!). I had crappy armour, which probably explains my failures. Even with Belias, it was hard going for me. For such giant monsters, they sure can run fast! I discovered last night that I missed out on a sidequest b/c I went too far ahead, and it only works if you haven't gone that far yet. Puuu....it's apparently the only one though. *whew* I like how there's multiple ways to get the same location, some faster than others. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
The sidequest I'm talking about is the one that starts off in Nalbina. In the guide, it's called July the Streetear. Apparently, you have to do the first part of the quest BEFORE you move on to the Mosphoran Highwaste. Boooo!!! -- Thanks for the other replies, people! I'll definitely be grabbing some new armour now and then go for the Earth Tyrant again. I checked my armour list and I was wearing crap! XD The only new armour I got was a Platinum Shield for Basch :D I have to check if I got an Esune Gambit... This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

@jb1234: The Earth Tyrant is a side quest, not an actual hunt. Although hunts don't give you anything valuable (at least, from the ones I've done so far), but I find it appealing to go after giant monsters ala bounty hunters and see how you fare against them. With 45 of the damn things, I have my work cut out for me. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
So where can I see this FMV of Penelo dancing? Why would she even be dancing? Is it actually in the game or was it made just for promotional purposes?
Okay, I just came back from a game session and went on a looting spree in the Sandsea. Then I teleported to the Phon Coast and bought everyone armour there, and earned extra money by selling all those older armour/weapons that offer no benfits. Now with my new found armour, I went and fought the Earth Tyrant to see how I fared this time. WOW, armour really does make a difference! I beat him with no fuss, except that the Decoy was working a tad too well. Basch was getting severely beaten up Thanks for helping me WIN! I should be cruising through the Phon Coast easier now. How ya doing, buddy? |
What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |

Spoiler:
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
If you fail to stock up on the latest armour, like me (:D), you're going to have lots of trouble once you get to the Highwaste/Phon Coast, especially the Highwaste. Oh, and there's nasty werewolves in the Highwaste.
When you reach Nalbina though, make sure you do that July the Streetear sidequest while you're there. I missed out on it :( I personally didn't have much problems with the boss you mentioned. The said boss was easier than the Esper right before said boss. Jam it back in, in the dark. |
I went ahead and defeated the last few Rank III Marks today: Feral Retriever, Atomos and Vorpal Bunny. Since I now have UBER ARMOUR, these guys were very easy for me. Only the Vorpal Bunny gave me a headache. It took me three times before Berserk actually worked on the dumb thing.
Next time I play, I'm gonna go advance the storyline. Although I'd love to obtain copies of those Ulti guides, I see no reason to if I can't read them. I only got the FFVII AC HEY! Have you been to the Japanese website?? They put up some wallpaper, one of which is pretty cute! I uploaded it here. Here's a preview of what it looks like: ![]() There's also another one that just has moogles if you like that. I hate moogles. Get it here. Preview: ![]() How ya doing, buddy?

I like how that Bangaa's tongue is sticking out.
Oh, this is kinda off-topic, but on-topic at the same time, but does anyone have, or know of, any FFXII skins for The Sims 2? Say what you want about it, but I love the Sims series and I have custom skins for lots of FF characters. Try as I might, however, I can't find any for the latest game, and I'd love to have some. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Yay! Ashe! I'd have liked to have more than 1 character, but it's better than nothing. I got some other FF skins from that same person as well! The only thing I make for the game are dogs :3
Thanks, kupomog! I tried searching at the website before and never got anything. No idea how I missed this one. Most amazing jew boots |
I got lost on my way to the Sochen Cave/whatever :D
I went into the Tupilta Whatever Hills and went running and running and there were so many different exits and twists that I finally ended up with a save point and a lone Bangaa hunter who got lost on his way to his employer. Don't tell me. I'm miles away from where I'm supposed to be going :D Then I stopped playing (after saving of course), to do some levelling in FF III for DS. Apparently the 2nd cave you're supposed to go is already filled with enemies kicking my ass. Why must older games be so hard? :( I was speaking idiomatically. |
Oh oh oh! I made it to Archades! YAYYY!!
I dunno...I'm probably just abnormal, but the route from Nalbina to Archades wasn't horrible as people said it was. I wasn't bored anyway. The Phon Coast is so pretty!! Haha, the first boss in the Sochen Palace was awesome! It was a total pain, yes, but so cute and funny at the same time! Then I came to a large door further on and thought to myself, "you know...this is a large door. I bet there's a boss behind it. I should go all the back and save the game first." I never did go back to save though. I OPENED THE DOOR AND OH NO! A BOSS!! I thought maybe I'd lose miserably and have to start over, but NO! It was incredibly easy for me. Just a few curing now and then, but other than that, all I did was hack away with all three of my warriors :D No Espers, no Quickenings. Just straight out slicing and dicing. Boss fell like a brick. Archades is pretty! I stopped after doing that matching hame :D I can't wait to see what happens next! What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
Haha level 47??? My party was at level 35/36 when I beat Ahriman, and I did it with no sweat, or maybe I was just very lucky. All I did was have the team use their weapons (nothing fancy at all) and the boss' HP just went down like a hot knife through butter. It went down pretty fast for a boss, in my opinion.
The first boss fight was tougher for me. FELIPE NO

It may sound strange, but I actually don't hate it much in FFXII, and I don't know why. It could be because I actually like their designs (those coeurls and their kin look like frickin' aliens though), and the fact the game has the best darn beastiary in a RPG to date. Everytime I get a new entry, I actually get out of my way to read what they say about all the monsters and places. Oh yeah, and some of the monsters aren't just palette swaps either, having different features/appendages and patterns. Take a look at some of the T-Rexes. In contrast, EVERY enemy clone in FFX were the same, just with different colours. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

Oh! Oh! I'd love to help you out with your Beastiary FAQ!! I can even get started at any time too! Since there's a lot of text, you're gonna need help! What say you?
How ya doing, buddy? |
In order to work on the Bestiary, I went back to previous areas to fight the elementals so I can type them up. I traveled around the Westersand to bring forth a sandstorm, but I didn't see a single one! Bah!
I did venture into the Caverns there (never knew and entrance existed!) and kill some new enemies though, as well as confront the Esper hidden there. Apparently, he's the easiest one of all to get, and he kicked my butt. He has a cool design :3 Wanted to do a Hunt yesterday, but the King Bomb stopped my progress. BOOO! There's nowhere I can't reach. |
I was unprepared for the fight (twas first time fighting) and I lost cause of it. I can try again tomorrow now that I know what I should be doing.
I think sandstorms just appear randomly, but don't quote me on that. Maybe it appears if you stay in area for too long. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
I had an awesome FFXII run today!!
This morning, I played for five hours and had gotten all the way from the Feywood to the Port (the second time), defeating a gazillion enemies, wandering through several dangerous areas, and putting the beatdown on 2 not-so-tough bosses and one Esper along the way. Awesome! It's awesome that praying mantises look so cool, and for the first time ever, Behemoths are two legged!! I got new armour and several grimoires and the story is so cool! I'm tempted to go onwards now, but maybe this is a good time to go do more sidequests and hunts. What do you think? I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
HELP ME!!!
I matched everyone in Archades to get the Sandal Chops or whatever, but WHERE do I go to trade all my Pine Chops for the Sandal?? The cab driver doesn't mention anything, and the lady blocking the door to the Grand Arcade says I can't enter. Help help help! The guide doesn't say squat, and the FAQs say squat!! I have to get in to save that poor cute round Cockatrice! When I first heard of a Grand Arcade in Archades, I thought it was a place where you can play lots of mini-games like at Golden Saucer. Then I checked the guide and I WAS DISAPPOINTED ![]() I was speaking idiomatically. |
