While it does POP, I don't even know why anyone would use it. I did for a while, but their interface is so effective now that I can't find a more worthwhile mail program to use instead.

I use Mail.app to check mine. I love the Gmail online interface as well, and was sold on it as soon as I got into the keyboard shortcuts. I mean, an efficient web based interface? It's been a long time coming.
I like using a good and proper mail application though. Makes checking old e-mail or writing offline easy for those times when the Internet is less than working. Plus, as good as Gmail's interface is, Mail's is just that little bit nicer to me.
Jam it back in, in the dark.
