The P180 is the best case for air cooling and quiet operation, and it doesn't come with a power supply, so your rumours are false (especially considering Antec makes some of the best power supplies). I got a Sonata II since I wanted reasonably quiet, but didn't want to spend the extra for the P180.

The PSU is the one area where you should *always* spend the extra to get a name brand PSU. The only ones I would consider are Sparkle/Fortron, Antec, Seasonic. If they are available, a nice Seasonic would be my choice.

The extra fans are a bad idea. You might not even need them, so it's wasted money. You'd be better off getting a good heatsink/fan for the PSU before you add extra case fans. The Scythe Ninja looks to be about the ideal HSF at the moment.

I can totally understand the desire to have a nice looking case. I wanted a nice sleek proffesional looking one, and would hate a 'gaming' case that is all flashy lights and shit. To each their own, but do not skimp on the PSU.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Yeah, those wouldn't look too hot in a Centurion. If you look at the cases with doors like the P180, Sonata II, etc. then your optical disks will be hidden, so your box will always look good.

Something like the http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811112051 has faceplates for your optical drives, so it hides them without having a door in the way. It's also a very nice looking case (like a powermac), though very expensive.

It's also possible to just buy new faceplates for drives. That'd depend on your model a bit though. You could also just get a new optical drive.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

The P180 is the best, but it's disadvantage (1) is that it's difficult to get setup for someone who is inexperienced.

The Sonata II is a cheaper option, not as cool or quiet, but easier to work on + comes with a power supply.

Cooler Master's Praetorian series has some nice ones with doors. It's wavemaster also is decent with doors.

Thermaltake's Tai Chi case has a bit of a unique look to it.

How ya doing, buddy?

I wouldn't trust the PSU, but you said you'd change it anyways.

The gauge at the front is shoddy from the reviews on Newegg. But other than that, a case is a case. It's cheap, so it's probably flimsy and will make a lot of noise, but since noise isn't one of your main concerns it should be fine.

I mean, if you have no special needs (advanced cooling and/or quiet computing) then a case is just a box into which you throw your parts. So just get whatever you think looks good (very subjective) and costs about right.

I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?
