And it means more people can play this game without resorting to get a PS3, JUST for one or two games they want.
THAT is the very point most people don't really get. I mean, I can understand that some people who bought a PS3 for a lot of money back then and get a hard-on everytime a huge game comes out exclusively for their console because the bad, bad 360 guyz can't play it then are a little bit upset right now, but on the other hand, it's about the best that could happen for any Final Fantasy fan. Finally, even the Sonyphobics will be able to join the group of FF players. There will be more sold copies and like that, I'm pretty sure Final Fantasy XIII will be just as successful as GTA IV or MGS4. So, instead of being bitter, let's be happy that at least there are some news

I can't believe anyone has much to complain about on this (non-)issue of FFXIII heading to the 360 in the west. If you have a PS3 and bought it for FFXIII, you're still getting the game, and it's still being made with your console in mind as the lead platform. If you don't have a PS3 and do have a 360, excellent, you now get the chance to buy this game when it arrives.
I do absolutely agree with what you said, but again, I can partly understand people who say "Geez, why did I buy a PS3 now that FFXIII goes multi. I could have saved that money and bought three 360s instead, just in case two of them break down". These people are different from those who're just angry that FFXIII won't be PS3-only because they think that 360 users don't deserve games like that.

Pretty much what Kairi said, though, if you bought the PS3 expecting games like GTA IV or FFXIII to be exclusive, that's bad luck, I guess.

That's what I mean. If the big game you're waiting for is FFXIII, which was announced in like 2006 and probably won't be released until the end of this year at the minimum, why did you buy a console before now? Were there other games coming out for the PS3 that you wanted? That's all I'm asking, why people bought a console for a game that was going to come out well over a year or two later than the purchase.
Uhh what kind of logic is that.

I bought a PS3 console in June 2007 and yes, I also did it because I wanted to be able to play games like GTA IV or Final Fantasy XIII. It did not exactly matter to me when those games were going to be released. I mean, why should I buy the console two days before a certain game is going to be released if there are enough other good games out now?

What exactly is wrong about an anticipated purchase like that?

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Meh, there's too much complaining and whining in this topic. Why don't you guys save your whining til' I dunno. Perhaps when the game finally gets up to the surface and that it's been released in either nation (Japan or the U.S).
You mean in 2012?

Some FFXIII related countdown has gone up. No clue what it's for, though there's no North American page related to it so it's all Europe love.
It's the countdown for the delay announcement.

BE ONE OF THE FIRST TO KNOW THAT FFXIII WILL BE DELAYED UNTIL 2012.

Uhh XII's battle system was the best that could ever happen to the series. It frightens me when I think about VIII or X with their random encounter bullshit that made me throwing things at my TV screen every now and then.

Shame that the voice acting is being handled by the same person who did X because that was pretty horrible...and this too sounds pretty horrible.
It's gonna be alright as long as they don't pick Zac Efron and Miley Cyrus, trust me.

Unfortunately, it doesn't. FFXIII is launching at 8800 yen, which going by the converters I plugged that into, winds up being $98.51. Here's the coverage where the price was revealed. It's definitely super pricy for those who might want to import it.
Maybe there will be multiple discs or some included strategy guide or something like that. But yeah, still pretty pricey

I am just glad they didn't fuck up the voice acting this time. The trailers look extremely promising, the battle system seems to be pretty good, too.

that everyone, likes me, stores their games on a shelf end-on, only seeing the cover for five seconds tops when they take the game out of it's case and put it away.
This is exactly the reason why I frankly don't understand what all this cover fuss is about. As long as they don't forget to put a Blu-ray in the box, we're pretty much okay here.

I actually like the Leona Lewis song, not too bad, though didn't have the same impact as Sayuri Sugawara's. It seems rather lazy of SE to not try and create a new original song for the game, instead opting to go with a song off Lewis' new album.
Yeah, that song is okay, at least I understand the lyrics this time

The song is ok for a mainstream song. I just think it doesn't fit into the game.
Well, it's not like it's the battle theme song or something like that. You will hear it during the staff credit roll, when nobody cares anymore anyway, so we gonna be just fine.

So Official Playstation Magazine has been released and they gave it a 9. The only thing they faulted was due to the lack of towns, the pacing of the story never slows down and its hard to keep up with at times. The 'second opinion' part of the review said that she was 'tempted to give it a 10'. The only thing she worried about was the combat. Linearity was mentioned but they did not fault it.

Finally some official announcement concerning the Collector's Edition:

Final Fantasy XIII Collector’s Edition announced for Europe The 13th Crystal

Quote:
Today Square Enix officially announced the contents of the Final Fantasy XIII collectors edition for Europe. The contents were leaked by GameStop Italy and were fairly true, except that there is no Episode Zero book included.

Here are the full contents:

* FINAL FANTASY XIII Original Sound Selection: a soundtrack CD including a selection of tunes from the game, especially chosen for this Limited Collector’s Edition by composer Masashi Hamauzu. The CD is presented inside a slipcase featuring artwork from FINAL FANTASY XIII, with liner notes written by the composer himself.
* The World of FINAL FANTASY XIII: an exclusive hardback book featuring characters artwork, CG rendered images and environments from across the game production.
* Exclusive Art Prints: 3 highly collectable art prints showing artwork of the Eidolons, powerful summoned allies of the lead playable characters of FINAL FANTASY XIII.
* Unique ‘Brand of the l’Cie’ decal: Collectible decal featuring this most iconic symbol from the game storyline.

Sadly, there’s no word on the price and availability outside Europe.
What you guys think about it? I guess it's all about the book. I hope it's gonna be A4 and not just some small booklet.

a small picture book
It all depends on this little motherfucker. Is it A 4? A 5? 10 pages? 100 pages? Is it cool?

I'll probably get the standard version, though. Amazon.co.uk sells it for 38, some other sites have it for less than 35.

It strikes me that there is no special/limited/collector's edition for the United States. You'd think it would be an easy decision for their marketing department to make... Ah well. There is one more game related announcement likely to be made on the thirteenth of February, though I'm not holding my breath at this point, and given it's closeness to singles awareness day, it'll probably be linked to that...
Hmm.

Well, you guys have FFXII CE so maybe you can get that?!

I just finished listending through the 4-disc soundtrack of FFXIII and I am disappointed.
I only liked 2-3 songs and the rest was just crap.

Does anybody else feel the same way or are you guys loving the music?
I think the soundtrack is pretty much okay (at least the important parts of it like the battle themes and opening/ending themes are good), but then again, I also like Hamauzu's previous work. The final boss battle theme (Nascient Requiem) is one of the best I've heard in years.

Also totally looking forward to not having fun for the first 15 to 20 hours, if all the reviews are to be believed.
It appears to me that the first ten (out of a total of 13!) chapters are going to be the RPG equivalent of a corridor shooter.

Jam it back in, in the dark.
