Look, isn't it like that: Right now, it would be pretty stupid to buy a PS3 for the sole reason of playing games anyway, since basically, there are only a couple of good games out while the rest is pretty much total crap. In a couple of months, maybe even before the Christmas season, when there will be good games, they WILL lower the price, I am pretty sure about that.

Sure, so far, the PS3 has definitely not been successful at all, but is it because of the price or because people still hesitate to buy it because of the lack of good games?

I bought the PS3 for 600 Euros (which is much more than 600 dollars, by the way) last month because I wanted to get a Blu-Ray-DVD player anyway. 600 bucks is NOT much for a Blu-Ray-DVD player with upscaling possibilities. I didn't primarily get it for playing games, this is what I could've bought an XBOX 360 or a Wii for, I guess. I see the PS3 more as a multimedia center with a loooooooooooot of potential.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

People don't want an electronic multimedia entertainment Jesus in console form, the absolute majority don't even have HD TVs, let alone give a shit about Blu-Ray; they just want an affordable machine that plays good games.
This is your opinion, I heard otherwise.

When the PS2 was released, the costs were about the same (if you compare the price niveau back then and today), but the PS2 had one important advantage: there was basically no competition on the market, so people didn't really have a choice.

I mean, what if there weren't consoles like XBOX 360 or Wii on the market? Would people still complain about the price? Wouldn't you say that a gaming console with Blu-Ray-DVD drive and 60 GB harddisk (which can be used as a desktop PC anyway) can cost that much?

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

And I dun recall the PS2 being 600 dollars and had a HD DVD thing tagged on. It was a console that happens to play DVDs, which was a format everyone was using or starting to use. All consoles are expensive in the get go, but the PS3 is forcing on us a format that not everyone wants or cares about, and its jacking up the prices way too much for the average college student or families.
???

I said you had to compare the price level, of course the PS2 didn't cost 600 dollars, but I think it was something around 400, which was quite a lot back then. And I didn't really say that the PS2 was able to play HD media (?)

You should be okay with Blu-Ray discs as long as you're not a complete retard, I guess. I mean, it's not like they break when you touch them or let them fall on the floor or something like that.

Nah, I didn't follow the conference, but I guess most of the videos are already available on gametrailers.com

Some of the trailers are already downloadable in the PSN store, for those of you who're interested.

Also It is cool the PS3 gets UT3 as a timed exclusive, sadly it is most likely only a 2-3 month exclusive deal and i'm sure the 360 version will have things the PS3 won't like connectivity/online play with windows users.
Yeah, that's pretty much a freaking joke. Everyone's like OMG EXCLUSIVE but I bet after two or three months, there you go with exclusive. Seriously, Sony has to be aware that too many "non-exclusive" blockbuster games (I am thinking about GTA IV for example) are not really good for their sales figures. Also, they are pissing PS3 owners off, no question about that.

Ah don't worry guys. Give them the time they need. In autumn, when the "good" games are coming, you'll see that nobody's gonna talk about the mistakes they made anymore. They just need a good advertising campaign like bundle products (PS3+GTA IV for instance), then they gonna sell their consoles. It was the same with PlayStation 2.

What SCEA is doing is stupid. They go ahead and instead of lowering the price, they make a super offer like 20GB extra, but hey don't expect us to lower the price, you losers, oh did we say losers, because we meant paying customers; then they expect people to be like OMG YEAH 20 GB MORE APPLAUSE. SCEE doesn't seem to be that retarded, fortunately.

You don't have to be Jesus to realize that a lot of potential PS3 buyers haven't bought a console yet because besides two or three games, there's only shit on the market. I mean, it's only logical: Why should I get a console now? Maybe it will get cheaper. Maybe a bundle solution. Who knows.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

That's why I say let's wait until October. I mean, saying that Sony failed selling their PS3 because there are no good games on the market is like saying Ford failed selling their cars because they don't have any wheels.

Just as a note, Europe is getting a "starter pack" this Saturday (wait, that's today), which will contain a 60GB PS3, two controllers and two games, and the idea is to sell it at the same price as a normal console before.

Not a bad deal considering how much we've been getting the crotch punch on pretty much everything so far

no price cut for us tho lol
Argh?! Where do you got this info from?

I mean, look, that's what I am talking about. THAT is a good idea. People like bundle solutions like this one. Two controllers, two games. Perfect. Not as retarded as just adding 20 GB of harddisk space. Nobody needs that.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Hey guys did you know: The Ratchet & Clank Future TOD trailer is fucking awesome.

Did you also know: The Simpsons game must be a game for absolute retards, as far as I can see it from the "Sizzle Video". I mean, basically, you're running around and exploding in crowded areas, this is like a training game for suicide bombers.

?

taken from Wikipedia:

"Release Date and Availability

Closed Beta (15,000 Users): May to Fall 2007

Open Beta (50,000 Users): A random day in July

Global Release Date: October 2007"

I just wondered whether that "RANDOM DAY IN JULY" was still ahead of us.

that's exactly why I said the open beta is a rumor >.>
well wait wait wait what do you mean now

That the open beta is a rumor in general or that it's a rumor whether it's real open beta, i.e. unlimited beta users?

When's the first big RPG going to be released?
Depends on what kind of RPGs you like, dude.

For instance, Oblivion is already out, but yeah, as for Japanese RPGs, you might want to wait for FFXIII.

I think Oblivion is a tactical espionage action game.

Then again, Qwarky, I have to devastatingly disagree with your point of view concerning your observation that "J-RPGs" are missing from all next-gen consoles because of partly the smallish user-base for both 360 and PS3 in japan because as far as I am informed, the typical "J-RPGs" like Final Fantasy are not only popular in Japan (I mean, of course they are, why should those Jappos play homosexual RPGs like Oblivion or Neverwinter Nights), but also outside of Japan, especially in the US and A and in Europe, too (!)

I was saying I haven't heard of that many JRPGs being developed right now for the PS3 (nor 360) and I can only assume it's partly due to not that many people owning the console just yet. In Japan, at least.
Yes I know that, but I was trying to say that this way of thinking doesn't really make any sense at all because it's not like Japanese RPGs are only successful in Japan. I am not really well informed about how many people in Japan already have a PS3, but the game developers shouldn't really look at the Japanese market when they produce games, I guess

omg! it still not the open beta for Home but I just got an invite for the close beta!
?

I thought the closed beta took place in May. What the fuck, why would they have a closed beta in July when they're planning to release Home in September/October? Sony's awesome marketing strategies make less sense from day to day.
