Monster Hunter: Freedom
I just picked up this game for my PSP yesterday with a friend. I haven't tried the PS2 version before, so I figured I would give this one a try to see why Japanese players like it so much.
So far I'm not sure if I like the game very much. Right now I'm doing the beginners quests to get the hang of things. I just completed my first hunting quest which was a nice break from all the item collecting, but now I'm back to hunting special mushrooms. I am a bit sad by the lack of online play. It couldn't be THAT hard to run a server that allowed us to play on through our router or something. Being limited to 30 feet in order to play is kinda lame and makes me wish I had the PS2 version just to see what I'm missing out on. As for all the weapons, they all seem pretty slow to me except for the hunting knife. The huge sword swings WAAAY too slow. The gun weapon is annoying to switch to FPS mode on and reload with. The lance is kinda neat with the charge and high and low attacks, but the hunting knife wins for combos. I'm hoping you can learn more besides the basic attacks since they already seem to be getting a bit repetitive. I'll give the game at least 10 or so hours before I decide if I completely dislike it or not. I'll also give it a whirl with my friend next time we go to the gym. I just hope there are a more variety of attacks and moves to keep the game interesting. How ya doing, buddy? |
