Oohh. Supposedly, we are getting some new firmware this week.
Spoiler:
Personally, all I could really care about is folder organization and in game access to the XMB...

No offense, but why is Sony seemingly incapable of implementing the XMB custom wallpaper feature.

I am tired of staring at a shit gradient, ok.
Oh. And that.

So personally, all I could really care about is folder organization, in game access to the XMB, and custom wallpapers.

(maybe also custom avatars...)

Heavenly Sword demo confirmed for this Thursday
Quote:
A Heavenly Sword demo will be available to download from the PlayStation Network this Thursday, Sony has confirmed to Eurogamer this morning.

It will give PS3 owners a chance to try out the hugely anticipated action game from Ninja Theory ahead of it's projected September release date.
It's from Eurogamer, so I don't know if this only applies for the European Store. I need to set up one of those accounts anyways, as I still don't have the Darkness demo :/.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

Quick question. I'm going to go to my PS3 so I can set up a European PSN account. Is there any other region that I should add? I think I read somewhere that Hong Kong was worth getting as well.

I mean, I would assume the big 3 are US, Japan, and Europe...

Lair - August 14th
Quote:
Given all the content and interest here on Lair, I figured you guys would also be interested to hear that the North American version of Lair has completed its development and is now in manufacturing! That means that we are on track for our August 14 release date. It goes without saying that we’re eager to get this out to those of you that have been waiting so patiently (or not!) for it to arrive. Considering the new PS3 price and now Lair, hopefully there’s even more of a reason to scoop up a PS3 if you haven’t already!
I really don't know what to think of this game. I know some people on these forums have been saying it's incredible, but for some reason I'm just a little uncertain. Whatever happened to that demo that was supposed to come out like 2 weeks ago?

Ok. Is the PSN Store going really slow, or is something wrong with my internet. The HS demo download has been going for the past 8 hours while I was at work, and it's only at 6%. Maybe I should put all of my porn torrents on hold for a night...

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Oh wow. You guys weren't kidding when you said it's about 2 minutes of gameplay. I'm kind of surprised by the low framerate as well...for some reason I thought it would be a little better than that...

I'll have to look at the finished product before I give a final verdict, I guess.

Oh, yeah. By all means, the demo was good - I didn't intend to give the impression that it sucked at all. I just don't think it was "OMFG THIS GAME TOTALLY PWNZ" like I thought it would be from all of the reviews I've been reading from people who had played the game at E3 and stuff.

If the framerate can be increased, that would be awesome. I think that was the biggest flaw of the demo, and it wasn't even that big of a deal.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Well...I liked the Warhawk beta...

Like, a lot .

Maybe it's just me, though. I got pretty damn good at flying the Warhawk, so I thought it flew perfectly fine (I WILL admit that the default motion controls completely suck), and the game rarely freezed on me after the patch. I don't want to start anything, but I really don't think I encountered any of the glitches you stated, either :/. I will admit that I had to turn off the mic chat, but I'm also pretty sure that it was later changed so you had to press a button to talk. I don't know, the beta has been closed for a while...

I dunno. I just really enjoyed the pure chaos that it could provide.

I lol'd. Would you guys believe me if I said that I still have yet to actually try out that thing.

If these consoles only last until 2010, then I don't know if I'm going to be able to afford being a gamer .

Well, it's no flight simulator, that's for sure. The moment someone took off in one of those things, they would black out instantly. As of the beta, a lot of the weapons seemed pretty unbalanced, if you ask me :/. When a Warhawk fires its machine guns on someone running on the ground, it shouldn't take 30 seconds of straight firing to kill him. The pistol seemed way more powerful than the rifle, stuff like that. Supposedly all of this stuff is going to be fixed, as the developers released a list of confirmed changes being made to the game in the beta forums (which are no longer up. I could post them, if somebody wanted me to).

I can't really compare it to Battlefield, as I'm not too familiar with those games.

Quote:
I was really disappointed to see that Warhawk dropped the single player, too. I wish they'd just kept the aerial missions for SP and then had the on-foot and other vehicles in MP. Frankly I'd gladly have spent an extra $20 for a single player campaign.
I'm not exactly sure what I think about this. Apparently, the game director himself said that the single player campaign straight up sucked, and that he would rather have a kickass mulitiplayer game instead of a crippled single player game.

If anything, it would have been nice to see a well done single player mode.

How ya doing, buddy?

First Loco Roco PS3 Video

Couple things I noticed -

1) It looks to be multiplayer
2) Looks as if tilting the controller just moves your Roco, not the 'world' (which I guess is understandable, if it is indeed multiplayer)
3) WHERE THE HELL IS WIDESCREEN

Um, wow. Lair has been delayed!
Quote:
Wow, even I didn’t see this one coming! Due to an extra step in QA testing to enhance the community features in the game, the release of LAIR, originally set for August 14th, has changed to September 4, 2007. Natural challenges that arose while finalizing the offline game to include key online features - such as leaderboards and medal systems - have led to the difficult choice of pushing back the release date. We appreciate everyone’s excitement and patience for the game and look forward to its release on September 4.
Yeah, ok. I haven't played the game, but I've been reading quite a bit of reviews saying that this game is not as hot as it could be, mostly with blame falling on the quirky Sixaxis controls. It would be my guess that they are quickly making a fix/alternative for this solution (even though they say otherwise), but what do I know. I have personally never heard of the delay of a game 2 weeks before its release.
Hey BlueBomber, did you add those PS3-XBAR-boxes yourself or is there a program that does it?
Ha I wish. I was very impressed when I saw it over in this thread on evil avatar. In the first post they have a mini-tutorial on how to add the dark bars, but it is unfortunately not the same as the ones in the Okami wallpaper :/. Maybe the provided .png can be modified. I'm not too good with this photoshop stuff, though.

...and God Hand rules above all. K sorry.

PS3's GamerTag - The 'GamerCard'
Quote:
During a playable demo of Unreal Tournament III at the Edinburgh Interactive Festival, we spotted something very interesting on the game’s menu system. It’s called Gamercard and it doesn’t seem too unlikely a possibility that this will turn out to be a unique player identity system, not entirely dissimilar to the Xbox 360’s Gamertag system that manages player stats and achievements.
Spoiler:
I don't really understand this. What the hell is the difference between the PSN IDs and the 360's GamerTags? Just stats and achievements?

Anyways, looks like another feature that is going to be implemented soon in a future update...

Fuckin' right, bitches. Warhawk releases a week from today. My PS3 is finally gonna see some heavy use once that game comes out.

I'm still on the fence about which version to buy. The addition of headset is a pretty sweet deal, but I'm a little concerned with the difference in load times between the PSN version and the Blu-Ray version :/.

If I can install some of the game (or all) onto the HDD from the Blu-Ray disc to increase load times, then I think I might have to go with that to snag an extra headset and some special features.

Folding@home Update Comming Soon
Quote:
We are all very excited here for the release of the new Folding@home (FAH) client for the PS3! This latest update addresses issues in two major areas: user requests and improving the accuracy of the core that we have running on the SPU. In addition, we totally revised the rendering engine for the molecules and added a more sophisticated display format, which is closer to the imagery you find in biology textbooks. This actually required a protocol change and the protein needs to be described in much more detail from Stanford University’s side of things.

Another really cool feature that was also requested by the FAH community is the support of PSP Remote Play. In this latest version we enabled this feature so you can now access FAH remotely from your PSP (that you already own, since it’s such a cool little gadget) which is an awesome combination since the CELL processor is actually doing the Folding job, but the PSP fully controls the UI so you can carry it around with you.
HAHA! Now I can kick your guys asses when I'm not even at home. Suck it.

LocoRoco PS3 Dated
Quote:
This time, you control a butterfuly.

August 29, 2007 - Sony's official confirmation of LocoRoco PS3 came quietly as part of a post E3 Japanese product announcement event. Today, thanks to the latest issue of Famitsu, we have a few new details on the game, which is officially known in Japan as "Oiedeyo LocoRoco!! Boo Boo Cocoreccho!".

Some rumors have popped up suggesting that this PS3 version of LocoRoco is actually just a fancy wallpaper program. This doesn't seem to be the case, as the game is listed in Famitsu as an action title, complete with online rankings.

There are some major differences from the PSP version. You take control this time of a butterfly, or perhaps a group of butterfiles, known as "Cocoreccho." By pressing the circle button, you can make the Cocoreccho shout "boo boo." This makes the sleeping LocoRoco in your area wake up and come to you. Your goal is to lead the LocoRoco to the stage's goal.

The game's title, incidentally, tells the whole story. "Boo Boo" is what Cocoreccho say to make the LocoRoco come to them ("oideyo" is Japanese for ordering someone to come to you).

Based on the slight blurb in Famitsu, LocoRoco PS3 seems to be an entirely different game from the PSP original. We'll have to try it out for ourselves to be sure, though. A PlayStation Network download, the game is due for Japanese release on 9/21. Pricing has yet to be announced.
So, uh, does this NOT have motion controls then ? The whole butterfly thing sounds interesting, I guess. Kind of.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Alright guys. 3 things:

1) Hey look! PS3 Loco Roco isn't even a game, but an interactive screensaver for your PS3…or something?
Quote:
Sony has revealed that LocoRoco Cocoreccho! on PS3 won't be a game, but an interactive screensaver with which you can interact. Interactively.
Once you've sat looking at your telly for long enough the experience will begin, putting you in control of a little butterfly who has to wake the singing LocoRoco up. When they do, you'll have to guide them around the level, tilting branches and other platforms using the motion-sensing Sixaxis controller.
ARGH what the hell. I will admit this would be a pretty sweet screensaver, but I wanted ONLINE PLAY DAMMIT. I’m also not too keen on the idea of purchasing screensavers, either…

2) I finally moved back into my apartment up at school and got everything situated. I have a big 60” SD TV, and wow it’s nothing like the HD TV I got at home. I plugged in my PS3 and noticed some really faint dark diagonal lines moving across the screen from left to right. I went through all of the display configurations and tried out some different settings, but the lines are still there . Is this...normal?

I did however notice that I could have chosen an S-Video cable, and also know that this big ol’ TV has a couple of S-Video jacks on the back. I really don’t know anything about TV’s and their resolutions or anything, but if I were to go out and buy one of these cables, would the picture quality be any better than my standard PS2 AV cables that I’m using now? I know it probably wouldn’t be anywhere near the 720p HDMI like back at home, but are they capable of putting out a higher resolution than what I am currently using assuming my TV can support this higher resolution?

Any help on this would be awesome guys :/. Any cable types or brand name suggestions would be awesome, too.

3) I have access to Warhawk again. Who wants some.

That is all.

I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?
