The most debilitating kind of anxiety that I've had present in my life was social in nature. Below that in intensity, but not in occurrence, was anxiety brought about by future-directed thought. What has been previously described by others did work for me in short intervals, but I found the best solution to the anxiety that I felt was to inspect the chain of reasoning leading up to moments of anxiety or situations which would trigger such chains.
