Exclamation File change when Burning MP3's?

Here is my problem. I was given a CD with one huge track on it and i want to turn it into many tracks.
I converted it to .wav and then back to MP3 (lame)...but my problem is when i burn all the re-converted songs onto a CD... they can only be played on iTunes. When only just moments ago...i was playing them on Windows Media Player...i am unable to do so when they are on the CD.
What happened?

I want to be able to keep them in original MP3 format, and have them be able to play anywhere once i burn them onto a CD. Do you understand?
Help...

Jam it back in, in the dark.

You might need to burn an audio CD. This will not keep the original MP3 files intact, but it will work. Is there any particular reason that you need what I assume to be the split audio files in MP3 format on a CD--do they not fit on an audio CD?

I have honestly never used iTunes for burning--you may want to try something like Burrrn or CDBurnerXP and burn an audio CD (the former option does nothing but burn audio CDs). That should ensure that anything can play the CD.
Originally, the file was in .mp3 format. It's my school's piano recital...and the recording guy did a shity job by being lazy and not spliting the recording into separate tracks. So now i am stuck with the job.

I burn my CD's with "RecordNow Max" program for all my audio and MP3 cd needs. I don't use iTunes for any burning whatsoever. i have never run into this problem before.
I am wondering if, when i converted them BACK over to MP3 (Lame) from .wav format that might have created this problem.

There's nowhere I can't reach.
