I completely agree with Chrono Cross as being a good bed time soundtrack. Chrono Trigger is also very soft and soothing in some areas. Tracks like 'Secret of the Forest' come to mind. The melodies and orchestration are usually mellow enough to allow for relaxation but very beautiful also to help coerce the mind into producing beautiful thoughts and images that may accompany one on their journeys into the subconscious.
Definitely recommended.  Jam it back in, in the dark.

(Hopefully I fall asleep as a human and wake up in the dream world as a dolphin.) Anyhoo, my favorite VGM to fall asleep to would probably be either Chrono Trigger or Chrono Cross by Yas Mitsuda. 'Earth Dragon Island', from Chrono Cross, always does the trick.  There's nowhere I can't reach.
