I used to play this game a long time ago for about 3 months. I was brought into it since a majority of my friends were active in it, and it was a pretty bad experience. The latest game I was brought into was World of Warcraft, and I'm immensely pleased with the result.
Anyway. The game was fun for a bit, but I quickly realized that there were certainly "haves" and "have-nots", and that the distance between these two groups was quite large. My class (hunter) was horribly underpowered, and I felt useless for most of my time in the game (got up to harvesting wooly hides from banthas on a regular basis). I had a house by the time I quit, but I didn't feel like much was being accomplished, and the complete player-based economy was depressing in many cases.
As far as I know, SOE fucked over anyone who stuck it out or put in time and effort to enjoy the game. This included jedis being ultra-exclusive then made common in a new patch, etc. etc. I never made it to Jump to Lightspeed, but the ships just seemed like new toys and expensive ones at that. All in all, the worlds were almost too expansive, as running everywhere was an exhausting ordeal, and sapped much of the fun out of the game.
I was never very impressed with it, and I hear it's worse now. Not very good incentive to start playing.
There's nowhere I can't reach.
