I'm a selective gamer. I look for games in a variety of sources, and I'm not limiting myself to shoddy mainstream games.
I have lost faith in Square-Enix, who seems to have alienated their older fanbase, and started milking their intellectual property. Dragon Quest 8 was an exception, however. I also bought the poorly done Final Fantasy IV Advance just because the save battery on my SNES cartridge for FF2 US died. I guess I should consider myself a classical gamer, if only for the reason that the large volume of new games are becoming piss-poor ones that are crappy rehashes of each other rather than games that actually experiment with original gameplay elements. Also, 3D games don't age very well, so the collection of classic games I like to play tend to avoid games with low polygons and horrid framerate. Anyway, in summary, I am a classical and selective in my game tastes, and I look for creative games out there over flagship series. Jam it back in, in the dark. |
