My relationship with Street Fighter music has been a mixed bag over the years; as with Mega Man, I tend to heavily favor the earlier chiptunes over the most recent entries, mostly because I feel they have stronger and more creative melodies.
This OST is a clear departure from the earlier albums, both the ones I liked and the ones I didn't like. Simply put, the album sounds like European disco music: hyper-repetitive electronica without a hint of melody. In the game itself, I can see the music serving its purpose by filling space, but unless you have a home eurodisco, there's little to be gained from popping it into your stereo.
In retrospect, I'd rather listen to the latter-day Street Fighter tracks, even the ones after the chiptune stage that I generally disliked. The electronics are sequenced properly, and there are no wrong notes, but other than that, the album is a pretty dire listen for me.

Jam it back in, in the dark.
