I play, but I always lose. I have to think back to 6th grade or so to recall a game that I actually won, without it being a practice game. I'm always trying to teach other people (family members, mostly) how to play; they either forget immediately or promptly beat me.
One thing I'm not fond of is chess snobbery. I dislike seeing games reduced to a series of mathematical equations, even if that's what they really are, and talking about grandmastery makes my eyes glaze over. Maybe that's why I don't play much anymore.
Jam it back in, in the dark.
