Someone over at Soundtrack Central pointed out that the game did extremely poorly over in Japan; I hope that doesn't torpedo any album plans (Hell, Deltora Quest got the full three-disc treatment!). I'd also like to see who wrote which tracks.

Still, the music is great stuff. Lots of electronics compared to the last few Basiscape projects, with a fabulous main theme and a ton of personality. I highly recommend the rip.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I have the rip as well. I have some time on my hands, so I'll try a re-upload (to save bandwidth on the site I got it from originally).

The fact that it's a Basiscape score is one of the reasons I want a release, so I can see who wrote which tracks (they've always been rather good at doing that). I'm not familiar enough with the other composers' styles to be able to tell what they did by ear.

EDIT:

Opoona Gamerip Part 1
Opoona Gamerip Part 2

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Fantastic music, tragic that it isn't being officially released anytime soon.
Since the game is out tomorrow, will it be possible to compile a more accurate tracklist for the rip? (putting the music in some kind of in-game order)
I second this; it would make it much easier to put tracks up for SotW and the BSC. Unfortunately, I don't own or have access to a Wii (otherwise I'd do it myself, since the game looks fun).

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

The op01 tracks were used in the game's trailer (which isn't to say that they don't appear in the game too, of course). I'd say they sound like a concert version of the main theme, which is woven throughout many of the tracks.

Along with Bonbon Battle 1, it's the most "traditional" Sakimoto piece in the rip, which may indicate that those are the only tracks he wrote (with the others being handled by other Basiscape members). That's pure speculation on my part, of course.

Keep up the good work! Incidentally, would you recommend the game? I've heard mixed things but I'm considering buying a Wii and a few games.

Terrific interview! Now I really want to see a soundtrack release for the composer breakdown!

Wow, that's quite the analysis. Who knows, that may be the closest we ever get to knowing the truth if there's no OST. But it may come in handy during the BSC, as I surely plan to nominate a track or two.

How ya doing, buddy?

Fine job! Many of my favorites are now identified: Intelligent Sea, Intelligent Sea Waterway, Partizans, Bravo Company...there are only a few five-star tracks left to be identified (of course, that leaves a bevy of four-stars too). Only eighteen left altogether!

Oddly, I find myself liking a lot of the alternate tracks better. They seem to be better mixed, and there are some key changes (for instance, the trumpet in Bravo Company is a flute in the alternate).

Any chance of another upload somewhere? The files don't seem to exist anymore at sendspace.
I'd love to help, but my files are all half-tagged and messy at the moment as I bring them into line with squaretex's project. Once that's done I'll definitely re-upload a nice shiny version with full tags.

Excellent work as always! Good to have the set fully tagged. I just need to do some tweaks and I can upload a tagged set.

I'd personally have called that mystery track "Opoona Main Theme" or some such, as it's woven throughout many of the other tracks, but "Family Reunion" is more specific.

I beat the game last night, and played around a bit with the epilogue after the credits. Is there actually a scene where Opoona and the others come across their parents?
Can't say that I know. It'd be awfully disappointing if there wasn't, though, since the odds of a sequel are nil.

In other news, I've finished a fully tagged and ordered version of the game rip, using squaretex's titles. Four discs, with the fourth disc containing all the fanfares and alternates. Watch this space for the uploads!

Here's an alternate link for Disc 4: Opoona Gamerip Disc 4 (alternate link). The file is just a hair over 100MB, which might be why Sharebee is choking on it.

a humble mirror request for 4th part, I've been having problem to download it for some days (proxy problem). Pardon me if it's inappropriate.
You mean the existing alternate link isn't working either?

Listened to a few tracks so far and I liked them. Will have to listen to the rest of the rip since it seems like a great score. Thanks for providing, and with such a neat presentation!
I'm very heartened by the nice response. The music is certainly worth it in my opinion--the perfect Basiscape score for people who don't ordinarily like them, or for anyone looking for something a bit different.

Also, eriol, here's a new link for Disc 4: Opoona Game Rip Disc 4 (alternate alternate)
