I wear glasses. I can't stand the feeling of anything touching my eyeball--eydrops are torture, the glaucoma test is worse, and my eyes sting uncontrollably when I open them underwater. The optometrist suggested touching my eyeball once a day to see if I could get used to it--I can't.
I've thought about LASIK, but frankly the procedure scares me. If I can't stand the sensation of water touching my eyes, a fucking laser seems out of the question. Not to mention the fact that LASIK has only been available for a few years--there are no long-term studies of possible side effects because no one's had a LASIK'd eye for seventy years. As Flanders said, maybe your eyeballs pop out at the ten-year mark or something. Jam it back in, in the dark. ![]()
