I'm only on Valkyrie: Chapter 3, but I've already mastered Gwen's moves and the Item, Food and Alchemy systems are so broken once you figure out how they work. They probably will put off a lot of people because "what the fuck is this >=0" type of initial response and what have you, but if you take the time to dabble and experiment you can have some lol times and create some powerful stuff.
Hard mode feels like Normal mode now, except with half the phozons and I have to hit things a few more times before they drop dead. Most amazing jew boots |
Also it needs to be a Mandragora I believe, can't use anything else to get something. Incase nobody has figured it out yet: Phozon EXP = Chapter x 10. So if you are on chapter one you will get 10 EXP per Phozon. Spirit Stone increases this value by 10%. If you're going to Phozon Grind the easiest way is to find a stage with two minibosses (not that hard when you get to the end of any person's story). Kill, Absorb (w/ Spirit Stone), get your Psypher Gauge to the maximum value it can go (you will probably have to kill many more things for that), Phozon Release -> Absorb -> Phozon Release -> Absorb. Repeat until you run out of Phozons entirely. Then leave the place and do it all over again. I guess I should add that when you revisit a stage it is based on the chapter it was. So even if you are on Epilogue if you go to a place that was like Chapter 2 or 3, you will only get 20 or 30 EXP at that stage. That's because that area is designated as a Chapter. I'm only on The Pooka Prince, Chapter 3, but I've already found an easy way to make Material (90): M0 + Mulberry = M5 (Fruit has a value of 5. 0+5 = 5) M5 + Any seed = M6 (Seeds have a value of 1. 5+1 = 6) M0 + 3 Mulberries = M15 (5+5+5 = 15) M6 + M15 = M90. (They multiply. 6 * 15 = 90) M90 + Milk = Yogurt (because Yogurt is created with an even value, and the 0 in 90 is an even value since Alchemy only pays attention to the final digit). Creating the Yogurt with an M90 will probably release like 30 or so Phozons. Considering how easy it is to obtain Mulberries and Milk, you can use this to get some cheap Phozons. Also having yogurt is never a bad thing, you get better exp from food you eat in battle and it's required in some of the greatest recipes in the game. (greatest as in +MAX HP wise for ease of creation, may not be the best HP EXP wise). There's nowhere I can't reach.

I have completed Valkyrie (a second time, wanted to see something), The Pooka Prince, Fairy Land, The Black Sword, and I am now on Fate.
Everything in the story is starting to become crystal clear now. I have no complaints with anything, as everything I was bothered by or questioned was answered later on. The way the story is set up is rather interesting to say the least. Anyone who thought Fairy Land Chapter 4 Act 5 was annoying, will completely hate The Black Sword Chapter 6 Act 5. What to not look forward to:
Velvet is so cheap, like Mercedes. Unfortunately being so cheap comes with a drawback... which is easily countered through the Alchemy system. Well infact everything is countered by the Alchemy system =P I never mentioned it before but I am slightly bothered yet humored at the fact that sheep grow from seeds you plant in the ground. Along with little chicks hatching from a normal looking egg turning into giant mutated chickens that poop eggs. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Due to story related business, all of the characters have at least two stages out of the seven in their story that they are not allowed to return to. Unfortunately you do not really know what stages these are until you are finished with them on that character.
If you find yourself having trouble in a stage you can always use the Home feature to return to base and then play the stage over again. The game does not penalize you for doing so, and it can only make you stronger since you get to restart with everything you had before you left the map (Psypher levels, Psypher gauge, HP levels, items, money). I know that Gwendolyn and Cornelius have a block ability, but really I wouldn't get too used to it. They are the only characters that can actually block and while it is a nice feature, you are better off dodging the attack (or reflecting it back if it is possible). In Chapter 2 of Gwendolyn's story you should find a scroll containing the formula for Alchemy Mix P (Painkiller). Like Qwarky mentioned, painkillers are really good. So many boss battles in the game become much less stressful when you aren't getting knocked on your ass in one hit. Carroteers and Cubsbanes might be rare in that area, but they are worth using to create painkillers. Just about every item that is created through Alchemy works in threes, so there is no real need to go overboard with item making. Also if you are really having trouble: For that battle (and others similar to it), plant a Rosemile. They will stop to absorb the Phozons into their Psypher. You can use the opportunity to get free hits in or recover. As far as equipment is concerned. Aside from the necessary charms to prevent certain things (such as Fireproof Charm to prevent the constant burn of the volcano and flame status), a Power Stone and Spirit Stone should be all you really need. The +%ATK Bangles are really nice later on though. Especially if you combine them with Painkiller and Unlimited Power (which isn't unlimited, your POW is just recovering at an absurd rate) I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
I have beaten Fate, and unlocked:
Book Title + Info:
I thought Black Sword Act 6 Chapter 5 was bad, but that is nothing compared to Fate Chapter 6 Act 5. Yet again, what not to look forward to:
As of right now I am listening to the advice from the sixth book and I'm grinding everyone to at least some decent Psypher and HP levels, well HP levels don't really matter as much as the HP does. Also taking the time to give everyone a total of 6 large bags, a entire row of Elixirs (I tried the first fight for fun, Healing Tonics will not suffice), an entire row of Painkillers, some Unlimited Power, and the proper equipments (Jupiter Bangle, Power Stone, Detox Charm, Fireproof Charm, Iceproof Charm, etc). I may dabble with Fire/Ice Spirits. By this point you should have every single thing in the Text Archive unlocked. Some of the recipes will require you making the one above it multiple times until they come up with a variation. I'm also going to just only bother with Yogurt Fruit Mousse. 3300 HP EXP and +24 HP. All you need is 1 Yogurt, 1 Egg, and 1 Mulberry, along with an Ariel Coin. 1 Egg can create endless eggs if you do it right, Yogurt you can just spend the cash for Milk then make it (or find a area that has Milk as a drop and farm it that way... but buying is usually faster), and if you can't find a Mulberry Seed to produce a Mulberry I don't even know what game you are playing. I was speaking idiomatically. |
Just finished the game with 100% completion. Got all four of the "endings", and unlocked the bonus scene reward for obtaining 100% completion.
I am very satisfied. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
Answer: Because her third jump goes through anything unharmed, her 4th hit in the regular combo (no directional) hits four times (twice front twice back), her aerial abilities are hacked, and her charged homing chain can almost reach the entire mini-map.
FELIPE NO |
12 recipes require you to make a previous one multiple times.
Incase nobody wants to know?:
Anything not in there is something you missed on other characters, should probably go inspect. If you did no variation unlocking by the time you reach Fate Chapter 6 Act 1 you should be missing only 12 recipes. On the topic of Armageddon, some advice:
Is it just me or does Odin Sphere feel like Wagner's Ring of the Nibelung except in a game form. Most of the things in the game seem like references to it. Some things don't match up though. How ya doing, buddy?

You can try using Piercing Shot (Mercedes), or Phozon Burst, or Mercedes' charged shot.
Some of those probably will not kill them in one hit, but it gets the job done. You could also try Napalms and stuff too. I hear Blizzard is a really powerful Alchemy Mix. How ya doing, buddy? |
How to kill Slimes:
Gwendolyn: Lucky whore never has to fight them. Cornelius: Use items. Napalm, Ooze, Killer Cloud, etc. Mercedes: Cheap charged h4x with the bow. Oswald: Go into Shadow Form or just use items. Velvet: Homing Attack with her chain. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
