When I lived on campus last year, the flat above us used to constantly bang on the ceiling through out the night. Not to mention being loud, drunk and abusive in all other hours. We politely asked them a few times to keep it down, stop banging on the ceiling etc etc but after about four months to no avail we just lost our temper and decided it best to use a different approach. We plugged my flat amps into my computer and blasted Emperor through the ceiling until they called campus security, who we had already explained our plan to. They told them why should they do anything if they themselves where being inconsiderate to us ^_^ they stopped bothering us after that.
