Display it on TV!!!

Hi all.

I've got a question about displaying laptop screens onto the tv screens. First of all, how would I be able to connect from the laptop to the tv screen? I've got a HP Pavilion dv1000 and from what I've researched, I've got two options to do that (the S-Video and the VGA ports). Is that correct?

If that is the case, what kind of cable should I get for it? I've looked around on many sites plus eBay, saying that you can just connect via one cable that solves everything. But when I went to a computer store a few weeks ago the guy told me to not bother, as it required a hell of a setup. Who should I trust?

And from what I've been on the eBay auctions, I've gathered that a cable would not be enough. If I were to also have the sound being transfered from the laptop to the TV, I would need a compositie stereo cord (or just any old spare composites I have in my house). Yay or nay?

Lastly, if I do connect it would I be able to capture screenshots using a computer program via cables? If so, what screen capture program could I use?

I've looked into a bit of the whole debacle but I thought it best to back it up with people who have more experience in this.

Thanks for the advice.

Okay, so I've tried it out and it works fine. But now I got another thing I want to do.

With the Wii coming out here soon, there's gonna be a party for me and my friends. Because I'll be going over to their house after the midnight launch I want to be able to play a Wii rather than gawk at my friend playing it. Is there anything that'll allow me to connect the Wii, via composite, to my laptop (which has S-video ports)?

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Something like this?:

Also, what should I type in on ebay or other sites to get one that includes the audio? I'm an EXTREME n00b on this subject.

Cool. That solves my first post ^_^.

But what if I were wanting to connect the Wii using the laptop screen? How would I go about doing the audio?

Also, would a gamecube s-vdeo would with the Wii?

I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

-_-'... I'm guessing it's input but being the n00b I am... I'm not sure.

I researched my laptop (HP Pavilion dv1000) and found this:
"The following video transmission types, with examples of devices that use them, are supported:
-LCD (Notebook Display)
-External VGA (Most External Displays)
-S-Video (TV's, camrecorders, VCRs, and video capture boards with S-Video in jacks)
-Composite Video (TV's, camrecorders, VCRs, and video capture boards with Video in jacks)

So would I be able to use my laptop screen for the Wii with this?

I was speaking idiomatically.
