I used to work at the airport uploading and downloading freight off commercial airlines. The job itself was easy but there were a lot of little things that annoyed me.
It was a secure area so you had to have a key card to get in. Since I was new I hadn't received my key card because my supervisor hadn't scheduled me for one. So I had to wait outside the gate in the cold (it was around 4am) and sometimes the rain for 10, even 45 minutes, for someone to come out and get me.
When my supervisor finally scheduled me to get my card, he forgot we had an appointment so it ended up getting canceled and I ended up having to wait a few more weeks.
Fumes. 'Nuff said.
I worked on the airborne express side. While I was there, the leads over at UPS were having disputes with management because they didn't receive the raises they were promised. So the leads left and so did about 30 other workers they brought in. We eventually had to let some of our people go over to the UPS side and that put more work on us. Sometimes we'd even have to work the UPS side in addition to ours.
The hours. I was working 4-8am (I had to be there at 4 but I was only on the clock for 3 hours) and 4-8pm Monday to Saturday which wasn't so bad initially. Then school started and I ended up only having 2 sets of 4 hour sleep periods, 12 hours apart. I really hated my job and I hated my life at that point because I just physically felt like shit.
I ended up quitting and just focusing on school.
Jam it back in, in the dark.
