NP Cyan.
Anyway, I've beaten the Behemoth King and Shadowseer with my characters at the following levels: Vaan = 85, Basch = 81, Fran = 78, Balthier = 76, Ashe = 68, Penelo = 64 I do not plan on getting my characters to max level 99 before the game ends. It's not a necessity to me, and besides that when you get past level 80, it takes about 250,000 exp points to get the next level which is a long time away. I'd get bored of the game knowing my characters aren't going to level anymore either when they reach 99. Here's a tip for you all - if you are having trouble with multiple necrofiends and Etems in the secret Henne Mines, Berserk + Haste your melee fighters. All I needed was 2 more Soul Powders for the Tournesol, and I got it easily with Vaan + Excalibur and Basch + Holy Lance Berserked with Bravery, Haste, Bubble, and Regen. When your characters are Berserked, its in my belief that they won't sustain many negative ailments like Confuse or the cheap Death spell. Berserk somehow overrides those. And of course you'll witness the onslaught while you control only your healer everytime. Henne Mines became a cakewalk, and so did Pharos Subterra. All my hunts are completed - but I need to figure out the routine in opening the Pilgrim door in Sochen to face the Doom Dragon. Then hopefully I'll find out where Yiazmat is. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Thanks for the info MS - I figured out how to open the West door last night because I remembered the "clockwise" info you said before. Hell Wyrm only took me < 2 hours to kill in the one session.
Unlocked Yiazmat, and yeah I saw YouTube videos of the beast earlier on, so I'll prep up for him. The weapons I currently need are the Scorpion Tail (haven't found any Thunderbugs yet for the Charged Gizzards), and the Castrophetes. For armor, I still want the Grand Armor + Grand Helm, Brave Suit + Dueling Mask, Lordly Robes, Mirage Vest and a Ribbon or two. Guess I'll go digging in the Henne Mines more. About the Larvae Eater: Here's something i just found from ASephiroth:click on More Aside from that, if I give enough trophies to Blok (for armor), is there a chance of a Brave Suit/ Grand Helm/ Grand Armor going up for sale after I give him enough? Lastly, equip Penelo with the Whale Whisker and Berserk her... then laugh. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Wow, Yiazmat is fuckin rigged to shit.
Took me 20 minutes to get rid of 2 of his health bars - so he has about 18 left? This shits gonna take me a couple nights... I wonder if Square will stick with another rigged side boss for XIII. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
So whos actually worse to fight against? Yiazmat here, or perhaps the Diamond Weapon from FF7? Or if there's been a tougher opponent than these guys mentioned, from like FF8 or 9, list em. I was speaking idiomatically. |
Well then, I'm gonna go ahead and say that your whole party better damn well be Level 99 if you take on Yiazmat.
Is it possible to get a 2nd Tournesol against him? I already got one with Vaan, and he deals 9999 damage without Bravery. But my other chararcters aren't dealing enough damage with the other lower class weapons. Zodiac Spear = no chance in getting it since I opened the chests that should not have been touched. It also stinks that Yiazmat absorbs holy damage, so Excalibur is out of the picture. 2 more questions: Which damn vendor sells armor that halves (or better) the wind damage by Cyclone? And where can I purchase the Renew spell? Still haven't gotten it... What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
The character thats got the Tournesol better have strength-based armor and the Power Armlet (Immune:Stop). Beserk/Haste/Bravery/Bubble/Decoy them so that they can land 2-3 hit combos or better. Even an attack of 9999 will only diminish Yiazmat's healthbar by a sinch. I really wish there was a way to break the damage limit like in FFX, where the summons could do excess of 9999 damage with the Celestial weapons in place. I've also switched to that Nicropaloa (whatever it's called) accessory, and I casted Remedy on Yiazmat. He's immune to everything except Expose. How ya doing, buddy?

Without Opal Rings, you could cast Scathe against an ally to triple it vs Yiazmat. Then equip the Opals when you need to heal (which will probably be most of the time). Anyway, I don't get this. I got Zodiark down to 1/8 of his health, then he got healed every time I attacked him with the Excalibur (didn't notice if he casted anything on himself). To make it worse, my guys were equipped with Black Masks/ Demon Shields and 2 of my characters at a time got killed by Darkja. Such BS!!!!!!!!! Disease is so wicked as well, since it lasts after you revive them to 1 HP. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
Let me mention it again: Have your two melee fighters go Haste/Berserk/Bubble/Bravery/Protect/Shelled - to increase combo hits on Yiazmat. Control your ranged healer who will need to cast Curaja every 2 rounds, and casting Haste as well (equip Sage's Ring). Fomalhaut + Dark Shot can be the valuable attack weapon for the healer. If you do want the additional damage, then go get some Maximillians + Magepower Shisaks for added strength. Or else Brave Suit + Masamune + Genji Armor will help increase combo hitting. Whenever you run from Yiazmat, he will start casting his buffs. So whenever you return to him, you'd better damn well Dispel or else the red bars in his inventory will light back up. How ya doing, buddy? |
Berserk lasts LONGER than Bravery/Haste/Bubble/Protect. So what you could do is let the berserkers attack him, and then when the berserk wears off, let them re-buff themselves. Or re-buff them while they're still berserked.
It's retarded in my opinion, that these spells don't hold the same duration. Big battles like Yiazmat would be easier then, but oh well. There's always the alternative of keeping an eye on their status. Unfortunately, I haven't found the Brave Suit either. Chances are, you have to hope they randomly pop up in a chest in the Henne Mines (with Diamond Armlet). It's too bad there isn't a mid-save point in the Special Charter Shaft where you could constantly re-load the game if your finds have failed. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
