I know PS3 uses FAT32 for HDD and USB sticks, so it would be logical to assume the PSP does too since the old PS3s read memory stick pro duos.
The space limit is bull though. The maximum file size on a FAT32 is 2GB yes, but I don't think it limits the stick itself to 4GB. I mean, there's official 16GB memory sticks (plus Wipeout Pulse) and I doubt even Sony is stupid enough to pull off an oversight like that.
It used to be that the PSP couldn't handle memory sticks over 2GB, but that was fixed with a firmware update ages ago. If there's ever been a limit for 4GB, it's been fixed as well.

I've noticed that I have no problem using PSPWare to load music on to the PSP onto the 16 GB stick but anything after about 8-9 GB shows up as corrupted files. Do you think maybe there's something I can do other than using the PSP's built-in format utility?
There's nowhere I can't reach.
