Brütal Legend: YOU CAN'T KILL THE METAL. METAL WILL LIVE ON.

ROCK AND ROLL, MAN!

From the wonderful mind of Tim Schafer, I have LONG been awaiting his next game and I'm fucking STOKED about this title.

Back in August, Norwegian gaming site gamer.no reported on the next game from Double Fine Productions, the Tim Schafer-helmed studio responsible for the critically acclaimed and commercially ignored Psychonauts. That report was hastily taken down, but not before some key details could be gleaned and translated. The wild-eyed psycho is probably Black.

According to the site, the game was going to be called Brutal Legend and would star Tenacious D frontman and actor Jack Black as a rock band roadie who dies and must escape hell to reach rock heaven. At the time, Schafer said some of the rumors about the game were true, but a lot were false. The name was all but confirmed last month, when GameSpot discovered a trademark application for Brütal Legend.
More details are emerging today, as Brütal Legend is the featured story in the next issue of Game Informer, the cover of which is now posted on its Web site. The cover image proclaims it to be "a rock 'n' roll road show through the twisted mind of Tim Schafer" and also specifies that the game features Jack Black as roadie Eddie Riggs.
The magazine is also reporting that the game will feature "a stable of heavy metal legends" in addition to Black and is being developed for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
It's from the same dude who made Monkey Island, Grim Fandango and Psychonauts, guys. This cannot POSSIBLY be a bad game. <3

LONG LIVE SCHAFER~

Jam it back in, in the dark.

First non-gameplay Trailer

NOT FOR YOU.
<3

The trailer doesn't have any voice acting aside from the demon narrator at the beginning, but I think Jack Black is the protagonist.
Also, if Tenacious D is anything to reference to, I'm pretty sure that the "metal" () music in the trailer is also Jack Black singing.

Alright, I've decided that Paco hotlinking to Game Informer's website with that cover image could have linked them to this thread and then when they saw the scans they contacted photos.cx to get them removed (yet another possible reason to add to why you should never hotlink). It's a possibility so I've uploaded the cover and edited Paco's post accordingly.
That's right... Blame everything on the swarthy brown people. If we're not coming here to take your sweet sweet orange picking jobs, we're here for LULZKILLIN.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I know it's a sickly late bump but, I didn't want to start a new thread anyway.

New trailer was released on Eurogamer late last month. It's still about 7-8 months away though.

How ya doing, buddy?

Another bump.

OXM posted new info about a month ago regarding new details about the game. Now that EA has picked up the game for publishing, Schafer sat down with OXM and gave a few more details about this game, including that Robert Halford (of Judas Priest fame) will be voicing the General Lionwhyte; leader of the Tainted Coil demon army. This game is looking more metal every time I read new stuff on it.

Gamespot interviewed "the legendary" Tim Schafer at the Double Fine studios last week. Bunch of new artwork, screens and concept renders are also there.

Check it out.

I was speaking idiomatically.

There are few things on this planet less metal than ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW.

Come on, don't tell me you wouldn't want to see chessy-ass effects like that in a video game about heavy metal.

That's a huge fucking soundtrack and it's hugely awesome. It has all the greats like Judas Priest, Ozzy, Motörhead, etc. and still found space for some old school obscure monsters like Rotting Christ and Carcass. Best part though: MANOWAR AND TESTAMENT ARE ON THE SOUNDTRACK.

I preordered mine weeks ago so I'm really just killing time until this game is released.

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

The fuck is this about? Is it because I pre-ordered the game?

For those Xbox 360 owners who didn't pre-order the game, the demo goes up for grabs on Xbox Live tomorrow.

I totally forgot about the demo too. I was out of town this weekend with other things going on and I'm downloading it right now. I'm really stoked to be playing it already.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I just finished playing the demo earlier and...

Well, let's just say I'm creaming my metal chaps in anticipation for ROCKTOBER 13th!

Gamestop fucked me over on my pre-order (I'm never shopping there again, but that's another story.) and I was forced to buy it elsewhere. But hey, I ended up buying it at Best Buy and, if you buy it there, you get a download token to nab the Brütal Legend Three-Pack (Motörhead - We Are The Road Crew, Testament - More Than Meets The Eye and Tenacious D - The Metal) of downloadable songs from the Rock Band store. For those of you who own Rock Band 1 or 2, this is infinitely better than the GameStop "exclusive" Tenacious D axe, since you can actually use this outside of this game. Plus, seriously, FUCK GameStop.

Also, FUCKING TESTAMENT, GODDAMNIT!

I was speaking idiomatically.

I don't know how many of you are completion-obsessed but, in case you are, I found nifty little map with locations for almost everything; they apparently only have 97% of the stuff found. I might make use of it later but right now I'm having a blast finding out where the bound serpents are.

I've already purchased a ton of upgrades for the Deuce, found 40 serpents, have every available upgrade in the Motorforge so far and still have 800 fire tributes to spare.

Additional Spam:
HOLY SHIT! Brian Posehn is in this game too!? He plays a dude called "The Hunter" and he gives you hunting challenges to beat his scores. Fucking DYING over here!

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?
