Running With Scissors
![]() I've always been a sucker for so-called black comedies and this looks to be one of the better ones in recent years. Based on the memoirs of Pittsburgh native Augusten Burroughs and directed by Ryan Murphy (Creator of Nip/Tuck) it follows his story as he spends his early adolescence dazed and confused when his family falls apart at the seams. Everyone is raving about Annette Benning's performance in this flm and rightly so, but to me the real crux of the film befell on Joseph Cross who brings quite an exceptional quality to the prissy main character and is able to give him an unexpectedly sunny disposition to the events unfolding around him. Bryan Cox also takes a good turn as the therapist, Dr. Finch, who accepts young Burroughs as part of his eccentric extended family: The maternal figure Agnes (Jill Clayburgh) who refuses to clean house and eats Kibble for snacks, the older daughter Hope (Gwyneth Paltrow) who thinks her clairvoyance extends to chit-chatting with animals and the younger daughter Natalie (Evan Rachel Wood) who spends her spare time playing with an old electroshock machine. Terrific story with an awesome cast and a greatly underplayed visual style. Sound twisted enough to you? Good, you'll enjoy every minute of it whether you laugh or you cry. Who else has seen this or is planning to? Double Post: Um yeah... Some links and photos would have been nice, huh? Official Site IMDB Entry Jam it back in, in the dark.

That would be nice if it had anything to do with this film. Although, I gotta give you props for Weird Al. <3
