try first to uninstall Norton Antivirus 2006 than restart you PC and install it again.and use old method to register NAV 2006.after finish register go to option and make sure don't choose "Notify me of norton antivirus program update:
 and don't make manual update,and make sure don't choosing what you see on this pic:  is working for me perfection.  Jam it back in, in the dark.
