2006-2007 NFL Season Discussion
All discussions pertaining to the NFL's preseason and regular season go here. Training camps are opening all over the NFL and its time for a new year. The six month wait is over and the charge for the Lombardi is underway.
2006 preseason week-by-week schedule Spoiler:
How ya doing, buddy? |
Well, the Colts and Pats aren't coming off subpar seasons at all.
Indeed, I too am looking forward for a great season ahead. Speaking of which, I've posted here this morning to gloat. To all Panther fans, I just got 2 tickets to the Buccaneers/Panthers game Week 3 this year (along with a few to the Seattle game on Week 17). Muhahaha! I don't know how the hell I pulled that one off. Every year, its next to impossible to get tickets. I tried the Washington game first on ticketmaster.com (tickets went on sale today at 10AM). Waited for a few minutes, froze, none left. Looked at every game. Came back to the Carolina game, found two LOWER-LEVEL tickets for 69 a piece. Couldn't believe it. I then found 3 for the Seattle game, which was even more astounding to me. Unbelieveable There's nowhere I can't reach. |
I agree with you. Obviously, if I'm a Cardinal or Lions fan, I'll I'm praying for right now is a winning season and a trip to the post-season. If I'm a Panther or Colts fan, the superbowl is whats on my mind. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Yeah, can't wait for tonight, Eagles and the Raiders. I gotta wait until Friday for the Bucs/Jets preseason game. I actually went down to Disney where the Bucs are in Training Camp, got into The Wide World of Sports for free.
A lot of suprises. Caddillac looked really sharp, as did the defense (as always). Simms didn't miss a guy all day. Gruden did, however, tear into Bruce Gadorski (sp) our 6th round draft pick. You could hear him 50 yards away giving him shit. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

I watched the first half. Thats about it. Its interesting if its the team you root for, since I watch all of the Bucs preseason games, since I like to look at the young, developmental talent here that I won't get a chance to see for some time.
I was speaking idiomatically. |
We Have A New Commissioner. Roger Goodell, Paul Tagliabue's right hand man, has been voted in on 1st vote. NFL Network is about to show a press conference.
From ESPN.com... "NORTHBROOK, Ill. -- Roger Goodell was chosen as the NFL's next commissioner Tuesday, succeeding the man who groomed him for the job, Paul Tagliabue. The 47-year-old Goodell worked his way from a public relations intern to perhaps the most powerful job in sports. He was elected on the fifth ballot among the league's 32 owners." What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
Tags did lots of good. No lockouts or strikes that affected the game during his era, and the NFL, as Capo mentioned, is the most popular sport in the US today. He wasn't perfect, but he did very well to create a salary cap and balance the playing field for all franchises, unlike MLB.
FELIPE NO |
Sure, I'm down for a pick-em league. If you set one up, I'm sure we'll get at least the 9 currently in the FFL in.
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
LOL. The most accurate field goal kicker in the history of the NFL...and he misses the biggest kick of his life last season. Dallas now has the complete heartburn combo in TO and Mike Vanderjact (sp).
Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Davis seems to be on his way out in the NFL, but will be a nice addition to the Rams for short yardage. I'm suprised no one has mentioned the fact that Jeff George has been signed by the Raiders. You may recall that George hasn't been in the NFL for half a decade and the last time he was playing was with the Redskins...throwing something around 10 interceptions in the first three games.
Yet somehow they feel he can compete at the NFL level. Now I know Al Davis has completely lost his sanity. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Charlie Batch, eh?
At least its not Tommy Maddox. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Looked like the pulling guard (Faneca I do believe) got a piece of it. I would have loved to hear Maddens insight, but I've muted the TV.
EDIT : Wow, Miller was definately out. Well done Saban with the faggoty underhand throw of the flag. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

Now with that over, its time for me to say something that seems to be on everyone's mind...
...the Ravens are going to DIE! (Yeah right, we're gonna blow it this weekend. Simms'll throw a bunch of pics and we'll walk away with our tail between our legs.) I was speaking idiomatically. |
Should be, I'm looking forward to it, though I always think the worst when the Bucs play. I can never help it. I expect a good old battle of great defenses (you know, like the 35-36 Bucs/Skins game that everyone said would be a defensive game).
What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
Wow, so much for our offensive line today. Simms was under pressure all day, not to mention drop after drop. Big game next week against the Goons. Gotta win it, can't start off 0-2 and expect to make a miraculous (sp? I'm exhausted) recovery.
Just unbelievably horrible. FELIPE NO |
I'm more annoyed of T.O. and Parcells. It was fun to watch ESPN this morning, as you could almost see Micheal Irvin's lips attached to the Cowboys ass. Every segment on every pregame show was about the Cowboys. Talk about fuckin' overkill.
The Manning Bowl is shaping up to be the retard Giant defense bowl. 4 possible interceptions in and out of the hands of Giants defenders. As per the Bucs, yeah, they really, REALLY need to take it to the Falgoons next Sunday or else we's be fucked early. Oh, and that 49er/Cardinal game was awesome. I was suprised how well Alex Smith played. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

Yes, we did get shutout, and I've been in a deep depression since. I can only hope this will shake the team up and get them ready for Atlanta. We have the talent, but if you watched the game yesterday, it was more a question of focus and disipline with all the droped passes, blown assignments and coverages, and dumb mistakes.
There's nowhere I can't reach. |
The good news for the Bucs already is the fact that John Abraham and Patrick Kerney could both be out with injuries come Sunday. Abraham tweaking his groin and Kerney hurt his tricep. 90% of the game is won and lost prior to the kickoff in the first place, and we saw that yesterday. Complete lack of focus and disipline by the Bucs was evident throughout the day. Droped passes, blown coverages, costly mistakes, the list goes on. The gameplan was poor as well. We ditched the run too early and put it on Simms and max protected every down about. We need a much, MUCH stronger commitment to the running attack.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Bravo Tampa Bay! Bravo!
Still 8 quarters without a touchdown. Amazing. So much for Gruden being an 'offensive guru.' I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
Well, the fact that they were on the field way too much is asking for it. They were getting worn down, especially with the offense continually sucking it up and having trouble getting a sustained drive down. We had the same problems, lack of a running attack, defense on the field far too long, turnovers & more turnovers, and a lack of disipline (droped passes, penalties and the like).
Brooks should have scored a touchdown off a Vick interception, but it was called back on one of the most obviously bullshit calls of all-time. It was Illegal block in the back on Ryan Nece. Nece, who had both hands up, and Dunn simply backed up into him and fell down, was called and nullified the touchdown. I was livid to say the least. I was speaking idiomatically. |
Oh, and my sigpic details a much larger problem. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
I can feel the love here in this thread. Back to the topic at hand however...
couple of big games this week. Jacksonville vs. Indy, Bears @ Vikings, Denver @ New England, and a MNF showdown between the Saints and Falcons. Who takes home the victories this week folks? How ya doing, buddy? |
That was the most disappointing game I've ever been to, and I was at the Colts game in 2003. Pathetic by the defense there. Unbelievable. Just...can't put it into words how bad that was by the defense in the end.
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

Well, Simms was pretty close to being in a world of shit. Apparently, his spleen was removed and we'll know tomorrow how bad it is.
