Wow, I love the ripped game section. There are so many games that are like 10-20 megs without music/cinematics.

BTW, the sleep mode issue IS one of the bugs of OE-B. So far, it affects MGS:PO if you put the system in sleep mode when not in-mission.

There are some other bugs, too. I hope DAX addresses these issues instead of just going ahead. Messing too much with the firmware (without sufficient beta testing) could break a lot of games/programs.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Rock, can I remove the updmaker and flasher folders from /GAME/ now that the flashing is done? I mean, I guess I can, but I want to make sure =P
Yes, you can.

Well I remember Jazz having problems with his MGS:Portable Ops and since it doesn't work during emulators, I guess I wrongly thought it's the custom firmware.
MGS: PO (UMD and ISO versions) had a problem with 3.03 OE-B when trying to come back from sleep mode at the title screen, main menu, and menu in-between missions (sleep/suspend would work DURING a mission, however).

I am happy to say that 3.03 OE-C has fixed this issue.

Sleep mode works perfectly again and I've been putting the new video resolution to good use these past few weeks.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Uh, it's not a "noob group called Hello World." A group called Noobz released a Hello World app for firmwares 2.81-3.03.

Noobz is a group made up of hackers such as Fanjita.

This should be the real deal.

They said they specifically went back to looking at the old GTA method and found that it wasn't really patched in the successive firmwares.

What they need to do is find out how to make a downgrader work, not just a Hello World app. That shouldn't take too long.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

Just to explain what a Hello World program is...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hello_world

Quote:
A "hello world" program is a software program that prints out "Hello world!" on a display device. It is used in many introductory tutorials for teaching a programming language. Such a program is typically one of the simplest programs possible in a computer language.

...A "hello world" program can be a useful sanity test to make sure that a language's compiler, development environment, and run-time environment are correctly installed.
It's the first test that any group does to show that an application can run.

How ya doing, buddy?

Firmware 3.10 (Sony's Latest) Decrypted already.

Hilarious.

http://pspupdates.qj.net/We-kid-you-...g/49/aid/81155

I hope this will bring 3.10 OE-A soon, maybe with a few new tweaks?

I'm just hoping that DJ Max Portable 2 ships before Sony finally gets their act together and creates an uncrackable firmware (never happen plz).

Still being a newbie at this, what exactly are all of the features included with 3.03 OE-C?
-You can run PSP ISOs right from the GAME (memory stick) menu.
-You can run your own PS1 games after conversion.
-You can watch FULL resolution 480x272 video using the regular movie player.
-You're still at the latest firmware so all the latest games work (plus all the Sony features are still included).

These are the main features that I use. Also:

-You theoretically can't brick using OE, because you can always just boot up in Recovery mode (holding R when turning on) and downgrade back to 1.5.

That's not "very cheap". That's normal price for a 4gb pro duo.

Even Amazon lists it as $80 without having to deal with a rebate.

Well they were 300 bucks when they came out (similar to the 1 gig, 2 gig, etc...), then slowly crept down in price as bigger sizes came out.

But yeah, they've been around 80-100 bucks for the past few months.

Sigh. I'm guessing I can't go to my local Microplay and ask to rent an unpatched Grand Theft Auto and expect positive results? This close to finally being able to downgrade and I run head first in another wall. I'm still waiting for a downgrader with no but included in the installation process.
Why wouldn't you be able to rent it with positive results?

I'm assuming rental places got their copies of LCS back when it first was released, so it'll probably be unpatched.

To check, before running the game, see what version of firmware update is included. If it's 2.00, then you're good. If it's 2.60, then no.

3.10 OE-A is out.

http://boardsus.playstation.com/play...cending&page=1

Main feature seems to be:
-4th brightness can be enabled without AC power

Plus the additions that were included by Sony in their latest update (I think some web browser fix).

Sorry, I should've edited my other post earlier. I did all that. But then it says "game could not be started" ?
Are you in 1.50 kernal or 3.03 kernal mode?

Check by turning off the PSP, then booting up while holding down R.

Configuration --> game folder homebrew --> 1.50

Just make sure you're in 1.50 if you run into problems again. 3.xx mode is pointless.

That R booting is the "recovery" menu. It allows you to change settings, but more importantly, if you ever brick your psp, you can fix it by following certain directions that use the R boot menu. Essentially, any version of OE is always recoverable from a brick.

I'm thinking about re-upgrading to 3.30OE-A, so I can play Chrono Cross... >_>
Should I?
Well, if you wait a bit, Dark Alex might put out 3.40 OE-A, since the official firmware just came out and was decrypted. Plus, he was saying he might work on a 3.30 (or 3.40) pops selector like he had for 3.10 OE-A.

So from what ive read so far, I can currently play PS1 (converted) with the latest firmware, but not emulators right?

And I assume I need some kind of loader to play non US games?
What firmware are you talking about?

3.40 (official Sony)?

If you have higher than 3.03 Firmware (official), then you can only play PS1 games that you buy from the Sony online store using the PS3. If you're at 3.03 (official) or below, you can downgrade to 1.5 (official) and then upgrade to a custom firmware to enjoy all the goodies.

Converted PS1 games can only be played on custom firmwares, such as 3.40 OE-A.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Hmmm, I'm a little stuck on whether to upgrade or not. I think I'll just stick with 3.52 until I come to a game that requires 3.71 so I don't lose the location free player (that's the thing that lets you view any video, music, pic from your PS3 onto your PSP, right?).
Nah, feel free to upgrade (from 3.52 M33-3 (or M33-4) to 3.71 M33, then install the 1.50 kernal add-on).

The Location-Free Player has been cut out for a long time in custom firmwares. It's not the PS3 thing, that's the "Remote Play" feature. Location-Free requires some expensive stupid device that pretty much nobody owns in the whole world and does nothing important.

The benefit of 3.71 is that you get to use official themes or create your own (custom icons, pretty much). Yeah, I know people used custom icons in the past, but that was always messing around with the flash and it didn't work on every firmware. At least this one is an official method.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Sigh...

Come on, there are a ton of great PSP games out there. Maybe you're just restricting yourself to a few genres?

Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters
Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops (and I liked Ac!d and Ac!d2)
Silent Hill: Origins
Jeanne D'Arc
Castlevania: the Dracula X Chronicles
Megaman Powered Up
Megaman Maverick Hunter X
Monster Hunter Freedom 1/2 (some people like it, I found it boring)
Lumines 1/2
Gurumin
Tales of Eternia (if you don't have the PS1 version)

...and there are a lot more. Frankly, I think it has at least 75% as many good games as the DS, people just don't give the system a chance.

Meh, I would wait until Dark Alex releases the 1.5 kernel update for 3.80 M33 otherwise you'll just be crippling your use of homebrew for a while (if you have a fat psp).

Oh, I didn't really mean to respond to you specifically, I was just warning those who were about to upgrade that they might want to wait.
