It'd be cool if we could do an interview. Are there music samples available anywhere other than through game clips?
Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Thanks. This stuff is great.
There's nowhere I can't reach. |
The game and the soundtrack are both amazing. I'm surprised by how much fun it is.
To tease you guys, we got an interview with Sakimoto-san specifically about his work on Opoona. Be sure to check the site in the coming days for it. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
I think it's a matter of passion. A lot of journalists who cover this stuff are gamers but not fans of game music, and they get stuck covering composers without being particularly interested or informed. I've always enjoyed game music, and having written for some general gaming audiences writing game reviews, I learned there's nothing I'd rather be doing than writing about game audio. I have a lot of surprises in store for you guys. I hope you caught the Norihiko Hibino (Metal Gear Solid), Masafumi Takada (Killer7, No More Heroes), and Nobuo Uematsu interviews recently! I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
I wish I had been doing that. It sort of slipped my mind, and I'm already far along in the game. I figure it would be like, "Battle," "Boss Battle," "Tokione 1," "Tokione 2," etc. The tracks are actually in clumps of where they appear so it shouldn't be so bad.
I was speaking idiomatically. |
You beat me to it. Good to know people were watching for it. I think it turned out really well, as he thoroughly answered the questions.
What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
Doesn't appear as though the alternate versions are even used in the game. I was noticing this as I was loading some tracks onto my iPod. Anyway, I don't recall what tracks are used specifically in which places. A lot of the music is reused in different areas, too, so it's not like it has to be the first time you heard it. Since the music is broken up into regions, at least it's not as hard as it could have been.

Just finished the game. Sakimoto's name came pretty early in the credits, while the rest of the composers came at the very end along with credits like...
"Music performed by the Eminence Symphony Orchestra" "Violin - Hiroaki Yura" going through each instrument Was quite nice to see all of the individual musician/performer credits while that "Music performed be Eminence Symphony Orchestra" stayed at the top the whole time. Most amazing jew boots |
