I just got word that each EB here only gets 15 Wii's for launch, then hurried to my my local EB to hear what number in line I am.
Number two in line, sweet jebus

So the US cables are the same? I thought that because of the ntsc/pal differences, the cables might be unique too?
Can anyone clear this up for me, maybe throw in a punch and laugh at me while at it.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Thanks, Ascendancy.

I might import the cable from somewhere if EU suffer the same fate as AU.
We don't have any Nintendo of EU to buy from internationally, so we're pretty much stuck on the few lazy shops.

Good riddance, two weeks feels like forever now. But if I freeze myself the wait will seem instantaneous...

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Hahaaaa, components are available in stores here from day one =D

Just went and paid in full:
Wii
Component Cable
Nunchuck unit
Wii Play (with wiimote)
Red Steel

Under a week left! Also, the store is open thursday at midnight.
I'm just starting to feel this is real, in an unreal kind of way.
Man, I've been anticipating this for good two years now, and now it's so close. Soooo clooooose!

I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

Only there's no Nintendo of Europe online shop to conveniently buy it through here.
I could ofcause import it if I had some caraazy desire for waiting another month to play.

This will be the only time I buy games in Denmark though.
Just like I don't own a single native bought Cube or DS game anymore.

This is why:
$355: Wii
$65: Component Cable
$50: Nunchuck unit
$100: Wii Play
$80: Red Steel

I was speaking idiomatically.

Don't worry, I won't miss out on Twilight Princess
But I don't feel it's the best showcase for the wiimote, so I'll wait and import it in the new year instead.

Right now I just need some silly games to screw around with.
I so wished that Excite Trucks had made it for the launch here, and Elebits too for that matter.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

Because I know mine was working smoothly when I turned it on for the first time. ;_;

I'll just wait it out. The games play fine (except Wii Play), so I'll see if they fix it in the next update which shoooould be December 20th because that's when the weather channel rolls out.
Mine was glitchy at first, but only when I turned the controller while moved the cursor in a bow/roundish maneuver.
Then I placed the sensor-bar exactly in front of the TV - alligned perfectly on the front edge of the TV table. Also I moved a bit closer to the TV (about 2,5m from the sensor bar).

There hasn't been any issue ever since, even if I move farther away, or the sensor-bar is a little off. Not sure what might have caused it.

Maybe it was an update, it will remain a mystery =o

Jam it back in, in the dark.

And you're absolutely sure it isn't just the sensor bar, Infernal?
Just to be absolutely sure it is the actual system, do anyone with a Wii by chance live nearby (peeack?), so that you can try using it on another setup?

It sucks so very much that everyone outside the US must always be screwed over

Wario Ware, Mario Party Wii, and Nintendo's Marketing all seem to indicate that extra Wiimotes are all you really need for 2 or more players. Is this really the case?
I had no Idea it worked with bowling =o
Anyway, I've used an additional nunchuck for Wii Sports Boxing, Wii Play Tanks! and Red Steel multiplayer so far.

Yay for Forecast Channel! Pretty useless but very nifty little screwaroundthingy.
I love the swish-sound when you spin earth. It sounds a lot like flying in Mario 64, giving it a slight nostalgic Nintendo feel.

Yeah, it's probably just pal. They feed us some crumbs once in a while, probably because they "ought to", or maybe to shut us up after enough whining, as any would the bastard child.

Hey, did you guys know:
Starfox Command won't be here til january 26.
Metroid Prime Pinball doesn't even have a release date yet.

Guess what N, your plan suffocating the pal regions works.
I've already played through SFC. As for getting MPP for a rumble pack also won't matter, as I long ago importet the Lite edition.

Hell, the only games I've bought from this region for nearly a year, are the few from launch day.

You say you're using component cables right?

Go into your Wii Menu settings, and make sure it's set to 480p (EDTV) mode.

The reason I say this is because you say edges look like they're moving, this is usually an optical illusion caused by interlacing (SDTV signals consist of 2 adjacent sets of 240 lines of pixels, alternating back and forth, this is why things look like they are moving.) Just because you hooked up the Wii using Component cables does not automatically set it into 480p, I don't think. Try it.

For the record, this means it was probably also happening on your old TV, just that SDTV's were intentionally blurry to hide this.
Correct, you have to select 480p manually.

The biggest "con" about having the Wii hooked up to a HDTV with component cables, is that it becomes quite obvious that the system doesn't use antialiasing.
Menu buttons and such looks like jagged low res gifs.
Still it's totally worth it in-game, as texture detail and the colors become so much richer.

How ya doing, buddy?

Here's some speculation.

First off, Valve praises the Wii.
Secondly, IGN spills some beans:
Quote:
Obviously our mouths are sealed right now, but let's just say we're hearing rumblings of Wii-specific versions of at least one of the main FPS franchises out there. Oh, and when we say "Wii-specific" we don't mean tacked on controls that claim to make it a new experience. We're talking an immersive, competitive experience built from the ground up for Wii. Here's hoping everything works out as planned, as I look forward to be fragging each and every one of you ASAP.
Could this possibly have any connection? Half Life? Counter Strike?
"Main FPS franchises" really doesn't say much, as one could name plenty: FarCry (which already sucks), CoD (got it), MoH (announced), F.E.A.R., ect.
I'm hoping for something bigger yet, a.k.a. Unreal/Doom/Quake?

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

As long as there's play with random people I don't care much, but yeah, the whole DS friend code thing pretty much kept me from ever playing anything with anyone I know, ever.
I see now that I won't be playing the Wii with anyone I know either.
