I seriously hope there's going to be another EarthBound character in Brawl.

Either a new one from EarthBound, or Lucas or Flint from Mother 3. Either way, I'm just happy to get any update on the game .

Jam it back in, in the dark.

They just couldn't give better information could they? While this update is interesting and all, couldn't they tell us something other than a detail about gameplay mechanics?
They could just tell us nothing at all. It's their decision. Be happy that we're at least getting a little info on the game before-hand. (I can understand your frustration, however.) You could also just stop looking at the website for a week or two, occupy yourself with something else, and check again. There should at least be some good info after 1-2 weeks. (That's what I'm doing, and hoping for, anyway.)

Using the Final Smash will be awesome.

Awesome and possibly cheap, depending on who you are.

(Still wants another EarthBound character.)

I like the slow trickle. Makes me even more psyched about the game.
Agreed.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Delfino Plaza looks like a nice open place for far attacks.

And isn't the Cloaking Device from Perfect Dark on the N64?

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Er... No. It was a nondescript metal plate with a black glass bubble in it, and the trophy listed its origin game as "TOP SECRET".
Apparently, someone said the references to Perfect Dark were removed in the American version of SSBM. Even the Motion Sensor Bomb in the Japanese version looked like the mine from Perfect Dark.

Edit: Picture here, apparently.

I see a red panel under the names, but that's about it. =|

It's neat to at least hear some new information.

An Animal Crossing stage has been posted. Looks pretty basic, but still neat, and day and night is determined by the Wii's internal clock.

Also, if it is Saturday and 8 pm, K.K. Slider will show up and play some music.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

Is it just me or do all of the new stages look like they're... well... really simple in design? Like, they have the floor and then one or two platforms to stand on and that's it. It kinda worries me because one of the things I've really liked about smash bros. was the variety in every stage... and while these are definitely "varied," the fighting areas themselves look rather bland. Should this be something to worry about?
They've also only shown a few stages. There's still hope for some big and different maps.

The Pitfall from Animal Crossing is an item now. This'll be interesting.

Throw it at the ground, and it disappears.

And when someone steps on it, they will fall into the trap.

The person will also still go into the ground if the Pitfall hits them directly.

Also, you will fall through the ground if it is on a thin platform.

Also, Donkey Kong's final Smash (Konga Beat) has been posted on the website. It looks awesome too.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

NOW WHAT ABOUT NESS
A post on Starmen.net about Mother 3 in Brawl.

Reidman is thinking that Lucas'll be replacing Ness. If true, that's really going to bite. -_- Here's hoping that he's wrong about that.

No, I've heard the "we predict" stuff concerning Lucas and Ness and all. People predicted Ice Climbers were out. I don't care about the rumors or the predictions, I want proper confirmation.
Oh, sorry about that. >_< Closest thing I could find.

I'm hoping there will be an EarthBound related update next week. A character, an item, a level, anything...

Wi-Fi play has been confirmed.

The two modes seen so far are With Friends (Anyone who has registered one another's names can play together. Also, you can send short messages while playing with the D-Pad.)...

Register your friends!

You can change your icon...

And even send short messages during brawls!

...and With Anyone (You will not know each-others names, you can't send short messages while playing, and records won't be kept.).

If you think of your opponent as a simple scarecrow, any psychological barriers may melt away.

While waiting for everyone to pick and choose their things, you can beat up the Sandbag.

The homerun bat's been around since the original Smash Bros., so that doesn't really mean anything. I'd be really surprised if they actually took Ness out of the game though.
Some people want the Home Run Bat to be noted as a Mother item. I actually call it the Casey bat, and no one has a clue what I'm talking about. xD

I'm starting to reconsider what I originally thought. I'm pretty sure Ness won't be dropped now, and the same easily goes any of the original twelve characters not yet announced...

Edit: Wow, after what was just posted by Qwarky, Friday's update is about Snake, his special moves, and a "MSG4 Love Theme: Brawl Version".

After seeing those screenshots, I was thinking that's what the update might be about.

His special moves:

B + Side: Remote Missile

Fire, and control it...

Seems... familiar... >_>

B: Hand Grenade

Pull the pin, let it cook if you want, then throw it. Depending on how you have the stick tilted, it will be a soft, normal or strong throw.

B + Up: Cypher

Apparently, /v/ was correct.

All in all, he looks like he's going to be an awesome character, more then what I originally thought. =D

Heh, no sweat Za. Now folks are screaming at the top of their lungs KUMATORA FOR BRAWL. They're not really all that far off, except that she'll wind up like Lyn.
Thanks. Honestly, I would expect the fans to ask for Kumatora, and as an assist trophy, I think it'd be great, hell, I'm happy to see a new Mother character in Smash Brothers alone.

But I think this is a really awesome start for October's updates.

Co-op play for Subspace Emissary Mode. Fucking awesome.

Basically, it is the same as a standard Smash brawl, so if you take damage and get knocked off the screen, you lose a life.

However, this mode features a space jump that allows Player 2 to return to where Player 1 is even after getting left off the screen.

If Player 2 gets separated from Player 1 by the screen scroll, he or she will quickly space jump back to Player 1's side. But, if Player 2 gets knocked off the screen by an enemy, that counts as a lost life. So, Player 2 will have to keep up with Player 1, as the camera follows them.

The Subspace Emissary mode also uses a map screen.

The protagonists form teams based on the developments in the story, with the characters they encounter joining their team.

Each time you lose a life, you switch to a different character on your team, and are revived as that new character until you run out of stock lives. (You choose the character order for your team members at the start of each stage.)

In co-op mode, when either player 1 or player 2 loses a life, that player will be revived as another team member until your stock count runs out.

But, if Player 1 loses a life after the stock count has run out, that’s the end! Player 2 is participating simply as an optional player, so be careful.

And of course, choose-able difficulty.

Zero Suit Samus' special moves.

Standard: Paralyzer

(Down Smash with it will aim for their feet.)

Side: Plasma Whip

The tip of it is quite powerful.

Up: Plasma Wire

Shoot it up to latch on and pull airborne people down.

And of course the ability to grab platforms with the Plasma Whip and Plasma Wire.

Images for Kirby's Final Smash right here. =D

Gets the pot.

Signals for everyone to fly into the pot.

He stirs the soup and adds some spice...

...to produce 3 items. (All three items are related to Kirby.)

And launches the excess material out.

Fucking awesome about Sonic. =D

So, now it's delayed. If it'll be released before Japan's date, maybe it'll be in North America on the 12th of January? Just throwing out guesses here.

And also, that Fall 2007 movie shows some moves from the newcomer characters (And a sprite from Pilotwings as a sticker. xD). More awesome-ness.

Sonic's special moves have been posted.

Up Special Move: Spring Jump

Uses a spring to jump incredibly high. Others can use it too. (Has to be used on the ground to be used by other characters though.

Down Special Move: Spin Charge

Hold the control stick down and tap the Special-Move button to charge up Sonic's spin.

Side Special Move: Spin Dash

"Hop into a supersonic Spin Dash. If you charge it up just a bit, your speed will increase.

It’s also possible to rise up while spinning."

Hit them with the spin dash...

... with a normal mid-air attach right after it...

... and do one more spin dash to return back to the stage.

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

Yeah, so the spring looks like it could be really fun. How does that work when he does B-Up while mid-air though?
Guessing it just quickly warps to spring him up, then it disappears. It only said the spring would stay for a bit if it were used on the ground.

So, any bets on the Friday update being about Sonic's Final Smash?

Jam it back in, in the dark.
