First of all, you shouldn't be converting so many times as the language of your post implies. Was the original "huge track" an MP3 file, or was it standard CD audio (.cda and so on)?
You might need to burn an audio CD. This will not keep the original MP3 files intact, but it will work. Is there any particular reason that you need what I assume to be the split audio files in MP3 format on a CD--do they not fit on an audio CD?
I have honestly never used iTunes for burning--you may want to try something like Burrrn or CDBurnerXP and burn an audio CD (the former option does nothing but burn audio CDs). That should ensure that anything can play the CD.
Jam it back in, in the dark.
