Prison is itself a punishment for crimes and a way of getting the scum outta the streets. As for rehabilitation...well, depends on the crime and/or the person.
If you're speaking about, let's say, thieves, then rehabilitation is a valid option.
But if you're talking about terrorists, rapists and so, they deserve to rot in prison for the rest of their lives.
